Agreed, I might be tempted to pay for this one myself. Save your claims for the big ones. My wife currently has 3 middling claims against her name and it's killing her at renewal (over 2k insurance).
If your new tyre will hold it's air you'll be ok for now. The balance on the wheel will be almost no existent so you may notice a vibration at higher speeds.
I had 3 new tyres and a new set of wheels due to black ice on boxing day. total cost incl 4 wheel alignment came to £1120. I decided not to go through insurance as I'm still building my NCB and didn't want to give them the chance to increase my premium. I would work out more expensive over 3 years from the increased premiums than what i paid for out my own pocket.
I would not drive with that on the car. The alloy is buckled badly and from your pic it looks as if there is a bulge on the tyre wall as well which is quite dangerous if it blows.
Put the spare wheel on and just drive slowly with the wheel until you can get a new alloy.

think im just going to have to go thru the insurance but dont wanna but need them to check every thing out aswell and by the looks my side skirt took a hit with some crap out of the pot hole as that is cracked aswell . all in all im more pi$$ off with my self been driving 7 years and never even curbed an alloy and now this .
