Head unit!

Yo guys,

Just put my aftermarket head unit into the leon, but it wont maintain a constant live, therefore not saving any radio stations or sound settings when u remove the key from the ignition, yet the standard one did.

Anyone got any ideas or pointers??

Get yourself down to halfrauds mate, you need an ISO connection lead to swop the live feed from the car to the one on your head unit. Simple and un expensive.

just change over the permanent live and switch live!! a search would help you on that!!

depending on type its usually red with yellow just cross connect them

defo. just swap red and yellow

sorry jim ging hijack here!! haha.. when i put my aftermarket head unit in.. i was having the same problem and switched the two wires.. all okay with the losing memory, but created a diff problem... keeps blowing my fuses... checked all the connections and all fine.. so switched it back red-red yellow-yellow- and problem solved but now loses memory again... any ideas??

hiya, i had the same issue when i installed my Pioneer. amongst all the leads coming out of the head unit i had a couple that had joiners covered in a protective sheath type thing, one lead was red, the other yellow I think….just pull them apart and attach them to the opposite colour.

For example, I now have a red lead joining a yellow lead, and vice versa.

I did the same with my Kenwood, but that didn’t work at all, hence why I got a Pioneer.

Mine is a single din cd player though, not a double din, dvd player or anything fancy.

yes, this solves the memory problem... but still blows all my fuses till i change it back.. any ideas on that??

just get a cheapo connector block for a few quid off ebay? i did that and works perfectly with my pioneer. much cheaper on ebay than halfords

If its blowing fuses it would suggest you have a fault somewhere or the stereo is trying to draw a lot of power. What make is it? What rating is the fuse?

No point in buying a connector block, all it does it swap the two wires over, you wasted your money. All stereos now come with some way of swapping them over as its a common problem.

came as part of a set with the fascia plate and aerial connector, think it was about £15 for it all compared to much more than that for just the aerial connector in halfords
