If you are going to cut a whole maybe worth looking for a scrapped bumper in case you decide to remove or sell the car and exhaust seperatley later on. What exhaust system are choosing is it purley for sound or performance or both?

A simple remap may yield better results along with an improved air filter if going the power route. Simon Coe at www.upsolute.co.uk do a remap for £250ish going from 75 hp to 83 hp and 126 NM 138 NM then maybe an extra 2-4Bhp from a decent cold feed air filter.

so presuming a custom exhaust system costs say £200 quid, added to the £250ish for the remap.

would you spend £450 for 10 bhp? i tell you now that i certainly wouldnt!!!!

Nope I would just have the remap and don't forget the remap will sharpen throttle response and get rid of any flatspots. Depends what he wants from a new exhaust........noise or power or looks.

its still only a 1.4 though to be fair, i think he just wants the exhaust for noise and looks, you cant get any power out of a 1.4, its the same with the 1.6's, people only have them because the most likely reason is that they cant afford insurance on a cupra yet and like the look/drive of an ibiza. i suppose its only my opinion though.....

No that is a valid point insurance is the killer and not that much you can do to a 1.4 N/A unless you spend £££££. If just noise and looks a decent backbox with either a single or twn exhaust will look nice.

i dont beg to differ mate, with the amount of money you'll have to spend to get some decent power its not really worth it in the end. especially considering its N/A. rather save my money and put it towards going jap :)

My mate had to spend the best part of £4k to get his fiesta st to 200bhp.

ported head, cosworth pistons/inlet mani/cams full exhaust system and a few other bits.

well i reckon with a nice set of high lift cams a custom de-cat exhaust a manifold and re-map from rs tunnings i rekon i could get it to see around the 150 mark but along with this i can see a cupra fuel pump and injectors being needed,
i have asked a company about a stroker kit but they wanted 1800 for one :(
