JBS have released a fully re-designed Stage 1 IHI underslung kit specifically designed for the Seat Ibiza MK3 (6KF)

DSCF4589.jpg

The kit boasts a full 3” stainless steel downpipe, mounted to JBS Spec VF34 Turbo and fully back purged ST316SS SC10 grade stainless steel TIG welded manifold.

This is the only stage IHI underslung Kit in the UK to have a full 3” stainless steel downpipe.

The new tubular designs concentrate more on collector efficiency and eliminating port sharing.

The manifold and downpipe have been designed in CAD to optimise the collector, flow capabilities and to enable easier fitment. The CAD process allows us to manipulate the part quickly and gather information and measurements, which would be physically impossible to do by hand.

The manifold and downpipe have then been produced directly from the CAD designs to ensure best flow, accuracy and fitment, using laser cut flanges and CNC cut collectors.
The manifolds are built with ST316 AC10 stainless steel runners and cold rolled mild steel flanges, to protect against the higher exhaust gas temperatures.

I like all the shiny metal bits:) Looks like a good quality kit and fairly priced for a BT application, until you add on fitting charges etc etc

Yeh thats what i was thinking. Id think with those power levels and probably the same if not more torque levels it could be rod bending territory, torque kills engines :(

Think with internals you could make that figure 4.5k. Think thats the price Badger5 starts these IHI upgrades at

also needs:
larger injectors
fuel pump
larger maf tube
mapping
fmic
exhaust

engine internals are borderline on these, but on reliable boost for vf34, stock 20mm roded engines should be ok. my own was good for 35k miles before i uprated to a new built 1900cc motor

JBS: have you got a picture of the downpipe turbo side showing its internals... aka asking about the wastegate flow seperator if its in there-thanks

Its helps spool, as the wastegate on VF34 opens and blows straight across the turbines outlet flow which hampers its performance..
A splitter in the downpipe is used to keep the wastegate flows seperate from the turbines discharge for a few inches so both flows blend into the downpipe not headbutt into each other.
Its whats done on performance downpipes for scoobies where these VF34 are more naturally fitted

Whats's the benefits/differences between the top mount an underslung kits? Also how does the IHI compare to the Garrett unit that you guys at JBS supply?

Hi guys,

Thanks for the comments.

As you have noticed Bill the downpipes do need a separator, as our experience and CFD software shows exactly what you have described.

Our cast downpipe is split down the whole 90 degree bend and into the turbo housing.

castdownpipesplit.jpg

Our tubular downpipes are also divided down into the elbow and we also split the wastegate and exhaust ports in the housing.

I will get some pictures up for you soon.

The turbine housings port splitter is not shown on the pictures posted as we had a choice of turbos (16G or VF34) and they have different depths of housings.

Our stage 1 kit will now only use the VF34 turbos.

Both our underslung kits have gone through a redevelopment process and the Garrett underslung kit should be on sale soon. We will post up all the information on release once all of the components are complete, the Garrett kits will also have a full 3” downpipe and will come in both underslung and equal length.

The big difference between the under slung and top mount kits is most obviously the equal length manifold.

The equal length manifold splits the exhaust pulses to give better performance. The individual pulses give better spooling. The other advantage of the JBS IHI equal length kits is the easy of upgrading the power output, by just upgrading the turbo.

We have waiting for production our cast IHI manifold and downpipe, manufacturing should start once we have completed our OEM cast manifolds.

is this just a something suggested or worthy of doing. only reason i ask is that i have converted mine to a bellmouth with no seperator. just curious if i should get one made into it.

however im running a vf43 on a scooby
