been looking at couple of head units ALPINE IVA-W205 and the Pioneer AVICF900BT not sure which one to go for is there alot of difference between your ALPINE IVA-W505R and the ALPINE IVA-W205 a couple of hundred pound difference 
but wondered what features

The Pioneer unit is the same price as the W505R.. I prefered the look of the Alpine unit so went for that!
Between the 205 and the 505 there probably isn't much difference, from what I can tell, the screen and graphics look fancier on the 505. Might be worth checking out the 502? Seems the same as the 505 but I don't think it has the Blackbird nav docking port and its slightly cheaper..

i do like the alpine w505r and to be honest i think i will purchase the blackbird in the future! i have been looking at kenwood head units with built in sat nav " Kenwood DNX-5220BT"
its all at the finall desisions i have the money for any of them but just not sure. did replacing the head unit make a big difference to your door speakers bass because i notice that there are quite alot of vibration from the rear factory speakers

which means i will have to change them...... but in the mean time the built in amp should help tone that out??I think the sound quality is slightly better.. But I didn't suffer from any vibration before. Am going to be changing the components at some point anyway.
I looked through all the headunits when I was deciding and my final choices were the Alpine or the Pioneer unit. I do like Alpines kit and have never had a problem with it in the past so thats what swung me to the Alpine unit.

maybe just that i had the factory bass setting up full! lol
think am going to go for the alpine to be honest!! did you buy through ebay or locally?

If you're in the least interested in sound quality, then the Alpines are the only way to go due to their upgrading/expanding capabilities. Not that the Pioneers are shabby, but only the Alpines can control an external processor through their screen (Imprint or H701).
This applies to multimedia units, if you want to go pure 2-channel audio then there are other alternatives.

I have a question, I am planning to buy a pioneer AVH-P4100DVD, do you know if the connects2 canbus and the alpine interrupt box works with this radio? i am not sure about what adapter and interrupt box to buy for this radio. Thank you a lot.
Unfortunately the Alpine interrupt box only works with Alpine headunits.. I think what a lot of people are doing with aftermarket headunits is to switch to phone manually on them when they hear the phone ring.
The canbus adapter would work but you might need to get a Pioneer specific patch lead to plug into it..

Hey street, I just ordered these same adapters also. And I picked up also a lead between Alpine and this box for a couple of pounds, did you use that also?
Yeh, I think that was the patch for the steering controls.. I plugged it in.
I received my Alpine interrupt box finally
one question.. I see you only used one rca input. Are you able to sum the R+L signal in your headunit so the telephone audio is not coming from one channel only? I was planning to connect two rca connectors to bluetooth audio output so I get signals to both R and L input of the interrrupt box.
Yeh, I'll label it up for you when I get back from work. The interrupt box should work on any Alpine headunit with a standard AI Net input.
The feed from the OEM bluetooth is labelled on the quadlock coming from the back of the OEM headunit.
This is the sticker on the top of my OEM head unit..
Just need to extract the Tel AF+ and Tel AF- and solder those onto an RCA connector. The take the Tel Mute wire and attach that to the Alpine interrupt box.
I've just tried to install a pioneer headunit to no avail.... could not get any power to the headunit whatsover.
now looking at the above diagram.. the wiring harness i've been supplied with does NOT have plugs on it to match the canbus ports on the standard wireing harness.
Could this be whats causing the problem? - its an autoleads adaptor which the place i bought it from keeps telling me is the correct one for my car.
Any help much appreciated before i go loco on their ass
