Put this in Mk2 Leon section cause im prodminantly aiming it at Tfsi drivers...

Before the Cupra I've only had tuned 1600 16v's n/a cars. Big difference to the Cupra.
Dont think I've ever really had the chance to push the car and find out what it can do. (bar staight line autobahn driving :p)

At 23 Im hardly the most experienced driver with 3.5years on the road. Just after some chat on peoples driving styles. Any comments welcome (aggresive track driving, town/urban, stamping on the pedal or progressive etc etc etc)

Hard!! on a sunday mostly anyways.:D Most of my mates have fast tuned cars and we regulary meet on a sunday and mostly go for hard drives on the A and B roads around Bristol. Its this that gives me the huge respect for my Leon and its performance. The look on the Evo drivers faces as they get done down the ring roads are priceless.[B)]

Motorway was always on the cruise control to try and get some economy. However on A and B roads I would always gun it when it was clear with good visibility and was always impressed with the handling. Unfortunately some yorkshire roads wouldn't allow to test cornering as you never know if there would be a tractor/cow/cyclist round the bend. Regret not having tried it on the track.

I know I drive the diesel FR but hey, we both still have turbos haha :)
Town driving is normally done in 4th gear if it's 30mph, it will do 5th but I feel the engine works too hard. When driving hard I like to have the ESP off as it hard acceleration does make it step in and I generally change during turbo boost to keep the turbo spinning as much as possible rather then at the end of the rev range. I'm less then Mike having only 2 years experience but have done extra intensive lessons as father is a observer of AIM. Next year I should hopefully have a few track days once my car has had it's exhaust system and remaps etc.

When the time is right A and B roads try to drive nice and progressive out of the corners etc but in a straight line just foot to the floor.

Im doing a track day soon and with that little bit extra leeway you get will hopefully learn a thing or to about the car and my driving. I too have only been driving around 4 years so not the most experienced.

Ive spent some time now nursing my car as the clutch is quite high, 20k service is now due and the gear linkage is being temmpermental. All fixed end of this month. Be great to get on the track and see what it can do!

Poverty, maybe so but tell me this, when you put your foot down in 2nd or 3rd gear, does it put a big smile on your face? I drive the diesel so I can't imagine what the K1 is like :D

2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, the porsche/evo drivers face, puts a massive smile on my face.

Love getting it sideways too.

Wallets gets hit hard though. Doing Hundreds on v power each month but I cant help it lol.

Atleast once winter hits the cupra will hardly come out, the cruisin etc scene will get quiter, and I will save loads of dosh for the k1, which should allow me to get it finished by early next.

I like to drive fairly hard when time and conditions allow, not a fan of red lining it too much though! I chose my cupra after test driving virtually everything and i can honestly say it was the TFSI engine and the tuneability of it which swayed me, there are some good N/A engines out there but they are a lot bigger units such as in the M3 and a lot of people with type r civics end up putting superchargers on them so that says it all really.

I always use cruise on motorways and some A roads like the A3 , but i go out most nights for some spirited driving , its just not right to own a Cupra and drive it like a Diesel or a 1.6 , joining slip roads ect she might see the red line on occasion ;)

You do need to let the ECU know where it is , i believe if you constantly change your driving style it will cause more problems for the ECU to deal with and also clog up your intake and exhaust manifold.

God only knows what my intake valves look like but i will be inspecting these before installing my BSH can , when it arrives :)
