Hi,

My Diesel mk2 fr is booked in the stealers on Monday just after some advice please.

The fault is when i drive and the rev's are around 1500-2000 the car feels really hesitant, also around the 2000rpm mark it feels like i am driving on cruise control (like i am speeding up and down, only very slightly)!!!.

Never had any DPF faults or warning lights. does seem worse when air con is on though.

Only started on friday, car sounded like it was barking through the exhaust when i took foot off pedals, like back pressure?.
Took car for 25 mile trip as per DPF regenaration instruction, Barking noise went but still driving rough!!!

Any idea's please or help. My M8 thinks it turbo or N75 valve, but still have power when i put foot down!!!!

Cheers

Paul.....

My car is also doing this. It recently feels like something is holding it back and restricting it until I press the throttle a bit more then I used to have too. Add the aircon to the equation and the car becomes very jerky and a lot harder to drive regards to smoothness. I had the MAF changed about 1 month ago under warranty as it had a fault code but the thing is, the car has only started doing it over the past week or so. Any ideas?

Cheers,
Danny.

Mine is doing exactly this too! Booked it in at the dealers on Tuesday but now it's bloody stopped doing it!!!! So, I am wondering whether to cancel or not...?
ALso, what is the MAF and how do I disconnect it?

Ok,

Went to stealers today could not find any fault with my car!!!!, said there were no faults when plugged in etc.

But Before i went popped into my local garage, mate of mine plugged my car in and it had 3 faults which he could not clear, one was unknown component?.

Just been back to my mates garage after stealer visit and now showing no faults!!!!.

So Seat stealer has done something but not telling me.

Car still not 100% i am starting to think its supermarket fuel, filled up with it last, never really used it before. Added Millers but no improvement.

Still getting a strange muffled noise now again through exhaust which goes away when you turn engine off/on.
Will go back to total fuel seem's to drive better on that.

possible dpf regen first stage - what's the rev's idling at?

1,000 rpm - dpf regen
750rpm - normal.

Mine was doing it at 750rpm - I cancelled the booking but said I'd take it in if it was doing it again.

My Leon quite often goes into regen mode due to me occasionally doing short trips, never had the light though (touch wood).

When it is in 1st stage regen its lumpy and hesitant, (the regen mode uses quite alot of engine resources).

My MAF was replaced under warranty about a month ago but the dealers didnt replace this until the car was in limp mode. I dont know how true this statement is but the dealer told me once the engine management light has come on, even if it goes off it will log in the ECU for up to 50 miles, it then clears the fault codes if the sensor doesnt report a problem again

But the MAF will not bring up a fault code unless its completely gone!! and Seat will not replace it unless its gone........

I was told that taking the MAF off and putting it in the freezer overnight, putting straight back on car and starting the engine will knacker it right up and bring up a faulty MAF code........then it can be replaced under warranty (ps i have never tried so do at your own will!!)

Mine is going to have to go in for this - I have had it happening more and more often since I last posted. Still not lights on the dash though. It doesn't give me much confidence when driving though that the car is fit for overtaking etc - no good starting to go past someone only to find the damn thing won't pick up in 3rd doing 35mph!! :(

Although I’m not sure what could be causing it, I’d definitely get it booked in! You should have plenty of grunt in 3rd at 35 mph!

Yes, when it happens it's as if I am actually at say 1k revs and the turbo is still spooling up, then when it gets to about 2.5/3k revs it kicks in but only lasts a second because it's out of the revs range then! :(

My only worry is that as it's outside warranty I'm gonna be hit with a huge bill or just a diagnostics bill and a "sorry, we can't find anything wrong"!!! Not too good, especially as someone has just scraped all down the back wing, leaving about 2/3 hundred quids worth of damage :(

On the motorway today and it went into limp mode with the coil light flashing! Got to work, switched off engine and back on again and it was fine again. Booked it in at the dealers though for next wed.

In other word's... Everytime i come on this site i see faults happening that my car is doing and cant bothered to take it to the stealers because they're usless!! It is worrying how a new car can be so faulty even after the amount of checks done before production. I have a feeling the car was released to soon and cheeply.!! Anyway, Its the mrs's car now. I have to put up with a bloody rotshall (Vauxhall) astra van!!!

I bet its the MAF! Now you’ve had the coil light and engine management light it will have logged a fault on the ECU so the dealers should be able to repair it.

Yes, that's what I thought - at least they should be able to see what's up now! On the flip side, it's not very safe popping into limp mode whilst on the damn motorway in the outside lane!!!
