Timing Belt/40k Service...

So my beloved cupra is coming up for her 5th birthday, doesn't time fly!

Called SEAT today to get a price for a 40k service... £233 then realised that whats included Ive already replaced recently - oil/filter change, spark plugs and no need for an air filter. They told me they would carry out an inspection and fit a pollen filter (the only thing i hadn't changed) for £83. I'm thinking I won't be bothering with that!

Was also quoted £283 for the timing belt and water pump supplied and fitted? That seem a fair price...?

Is there anything else i should be getting done at this stage? Had my brake fluid change done last year so don't need that...

Cheers
Scott

Do you think the dealer has included a new tensioner pulley/damper in this price or could this be why it seems a good price? Think i'll check before i book the car in...

Also when should I change the alternator belt?

I would imagine the price will include the tensioners pulley and the roller but not the tensioner, I did my cam belt 2 weeks back and the parts cost me £193, but genuine cam belt kit was about £70 which was belt, tensioner pulley and roller then I also brought water pump, tensioner, aux belt, coolant and a locking pin tool

Pulley, roller, belt, water pump and asked about the tensioner and I was told its included too...

As long as they're not confusing the tensioner pulley with the tensioner itself, the tensioner itself isn't part of usual cambelt kit but always worth changing while your there

Just have a quick look at the aux belt. If it seems perished get it changed too. They should only charge you for the belt as it has to be removed to get access to the cam belt, so no labour charge.

I'll take a look. If it looked buggered I think they would probably change it anyways...

I asked them more than once so hopefully they know what I was talking about lol

Scott, out of interest, what dealer gave you that price for the timing belt and pump? I've just left Uddingston dealer with a price for £403 fitted AND that apparently included my 4+ discount!?!?!

Cheers
