Shame I couldnt get as many runs in as I wanted but the car is behaving fine now though! Think it's a sign of engine mount on it's way out though. We'll have to see! Both dealers

Didnt get very good times at Santa Pod! This was only the 3rd and 4th time I'd ever ran a 1/4 mile. I really need to perfect the launches as that's what I'm ballsing up on! My terminal speed is about right for a hybrid derv, but my times are about 0.5 - 1 second down. I only got two runs as I started to get a strange noise which has sorted itself! 
I think it's engine mount as I've had a slight knock for a while, and it creaks a bit when you rock the engine so I didnt want to keep running and break it.

The tyres are spot on! You can plant it in 2nd and it wont spin at all in a straight line. It is literally just the launches I need to get right. I got a 15.3 the first run, then a 15.0 the next run. So they were getting better!
And the first two runs I ever dide I got a 15.9, then a 15.6 so they're going down by 0.3 seconds each time! chispadete

what terminal speeds do diesel like yours run then. a tdi cant launch surely what are your times on the slip like 60ft 330ft etc

diesel power and short gearbox thats why people say 0-60 times are always crap on a diesel and they cant launch as fast as a petrol they are all midrange and nowt on a diesel

TDi's are a bit usless for launching. 1st gear is so short, over rev it and it'll spin like a biatch, under rev and it'll bog down. Before you know it you're changing into 2nd.
Reaction time was an embarrassing .8 of a second.
60ft was 2.2 secs
330ft was 6.4 seconds
1/8 was 9.7 seconds
1000' was 12.5 seconds
1/4 was 15.0 seconds.
Terminal speed was 92.71mph.
I think 92mph is about right for a hybrid derv tbh.... Just need to get off the line quicker and master 1st > 2nd.
Nope they arent. Waiting for the powder coater to come back, apparently they might not be able to powder coat them due to the rubber seals being on. Cos when they bake it, they might melt. I'd have thought that they should be ok as brakes can get fecking hot when abused! We'll see what the bloke says when he comes back to work tomorrow!
Then i just need discs and pads. Money is tight atm though.

On my stage one mapping i ran a 15.02@94mph.
Should be hitting more along the lines of 98+mph.

was thinking the same on that power as terminal speed is bhp you got with ya weight, so he must have been shifting at like 3,000rpm!
I did say I ballsed up and it is only the 4th time I've ever run!
I was shifting just before the red so I was going straight back into boost. Why?

Regardless of how much you balls up the start, your terminal speed should still be something like, and it doesnt seem that it is.

Maybe my mapping isnt 100%. I can use 98% of throttle and it'll be smoke free, then when i flat it, all hell breaks loose and it smokes like a chimney. I've been in touch with RS and he's said there might be a problem with the fuel not being burnt (edit: not being burnt CORRECTLY) on WOT. He said i can buy a remote box that he'll load more maps on, but I dont see why I should pay £200+VAT for it when if I just went up there, he'd hopefully adjust it for free.
I just cant afford to get up to Leeds atm to get it seen to!

was about to say chris run a 14 second dead and 0-60 of 6.1 seconds so completely proves that bloke wrong!
Gutted i couldnt have come down today with chris, mega skint, then windscreen cracked. Just sods law for me atm!
My 60ft time was 2.1887 on my best run, so practically the same, but my 330ft time was 5.9255 which is about 0.5 secs up on you. You must've really spun up when you came on boost in 2nd maybe?
Shame your car was making some dodgy noises. The only way to get better at 1/4mile launches is to practice which you weren't able to do. I don't blame you for not running after that, much better to get home than risk another run and break something!

The strange noise has gone now! But i do think it's an engine mount on it's way out. It certainly seemed that way yesterday when we had a look. Ah well - I'll have a nosey tomorrow.
