is it worth tuning a 1.4 16v for example full system exhaust, induction kit and remap. will it make much of an improvement? if you have tuned your 1.4 16v how much more bhp have you gained and how much faster 0-60 time and top speed have you got.

LoL, tbh dude, IT IS worth on getting the 1.4 tuned. With the remap u will FOR SURE get 15-20bhp, panel stock size filter will get u 5bhp or if u choose open air filter u will get up to 8-10bhp, exhaust system will get u the gain amount as the remap. So u end up with 35bhp +. My advice is only do the remap after u mount up all of the mentioned mods, the remap will kinda wrap all up :). Cheers mate and dont give up on tuning your beezer if u wanna :D

I think 35+ BHP gain on a small N/A engine with the mentioned mods is more than a little optimistic. You would be better off getting a TDI or a turbo'd petrol if you're hoping for big gains/£

Just my opinion.

I am planing of doing the mods i mentioned, and 35 is the aporx gain so would vary from 30 to 35. ;)

remaps on NA petrol engines gain around 10%, so 15-20bhp is VERY optimistic.

Panel filters do little, if anything, even on turbo engines.

'Cone' filters will lose you power due to heat soak in the engine bay. Chavs seem to think they add around 30hp tho...

Full exhaust, maybe a couple of bhp, but only when coupled with a de-cat, the main restriction in the exhaust

Not a hope in hell of getting 35+bhp from the 1.4 mate (well not withought cams or a charger or NOS).

Burtrum on here has his 1.4 remapped with a cat back exhaust and open cone filter and he made 119bhp at RS Tuning last month.
