cant find parts anywhere

Hi guys, new to the forum so hello to all.

Was wondering if anyone could help, need an ignition coil for my 97 ibiza cupra gti 2.0 8v.
Need a few parts but im having trouble location them, been on the fone and net for last 2 days now withouh much luck.

If possible could anyone point me in the direction of a supplier or breakers yard ( northern ireland) please,

I need 2 new front headlamps left and right
Power Steering pump
and ignition coil.

i waa able to get the other parts i needed pretty easy, handbrake cable, steering wheel gator and ball joint but having problems with the few listed above, especially the headlamps, so if anyone out there has had to purchase these parts before, which im sure they have lol, could yous please post any info at all.

headlamps/power steering pump is best to go on ebay mate, type in "ibiza gti" and have a look, there's a few breaking (don't just type "ibiza breaking" as most people don't say in just titles)

Coil pack available from german swedish and french (gsf 02890663866) boucher road area. Differing makes available fro £21 to £40 (had to buy one 2 months back myself).

Headlights are harder to get, I had to get mine from a dealer but it wasn't as bad as some other makes. About £70 a side. I have two second hand ones here if your stuck....


The power steering pump should be available through gsf(number above) or eurocarparts 02890689700 just off apollo road (boucher road area again.

Europarts mag came through the door today, what are the chances lol.

used ignition coil in breakers yard for 20 quid, gonna go the extra 20 or quid or so and just buy brandnew.

only had the car 2 weeks and fell in love with it, despite the hiccups, fastest car ive owned so far.

didnt realise how quick it was compard to the mk3 golfs until i raced the cousin, he has mk3 gti golf 8v. same engine as mine from what im told. needless to say blew him for **** lol although i didnt expect to pull away so quick. I Bought the car second hand from dealer who wasdodgy to say the least, so im not too sure if car has any "work done" does the following sound about right? lol

1st gear tops out around 37 mph
2nd gear tops out around 63mph
3rd around 90mph
4th aroung 118 and 5th carries me to 132 mph

is this normal?

cheers for the help m8, headlights off dealer are around 75 a pop. theres a loose bracket in one of my headlamps and the reflector on the right side wobbles if i hit bonnet, needless to say failed mot lol, found a cracking set of angel eye headlamps though , £135 for the pair, 5er cheaper than dealer and look far better. not sure if im allowed to post link though??

beezatart will back me up! they look cool (i have a set on now) but at night you might as well close your eyes as you ain't gonna see she-ite!
i might get rid of mine when i can afford some standard headlights!

seriously go to scrapyard/ebay for breaking ibiza's (there's some on here, f2_stu is breaking his 8v gti ibiza, so have a look)

yeah the ibiza's are quicker than the golfs as they are lighter (as i've been told) i whooped my mate in his 16v golf gti, and he couldn't take it (as he payed stupid amounts to get his haha)

Sounds like you've got an 8v in good nick if its getting those speeds in the gears as they're just about spot on

llf no worries mate cheers for the info, how did you get your old headlights out? i unscrewed 2 screws underneath bonnet where front grill attaches to car but still cant get it off, dont wanna pull too hard for fear of breaking it.

it stuck at each side of the front underneath the indicator if ya get me? couldnt see no other screws about....

yeah mate its pretty clean, interior spotless. 1 lady owner from new, only 86000 on her i think, few dinges but sound other than that.

whats yours like breaking??? mines isnt the best tbh everytime i hit brakes at hi speed they lock up, my old 1.4 sxe mk2 had better brakes on her.

do you know if they are fitted with ABS? i think there is an abs ring on back hub, not too sure...

will contact sere and see what happens,

no prolem mate, its what the forum is for!

ermm they came on the car when i got it, that's why they still on there, lol when i get more money i will make back to standard!

open the bonnet and look if there is an ABS unit there (with green thin tubing coming off it)?

might need some new pads/discs mate, have a look how they look (might even be tyres)

You have to remove the indicators before you can remove the headlights, they unclip and push forward out of the car. Should be 3 screws on the headlight, 2 at the bottom and 1 into the slam panel at the top.

ABS wasn't fitted on all GTi's mine doesnt have it, if it does there should be an orange light saying 'ABS' on the dashboard come on at start up. The light goes out if its working and stays on if its not.

Give it a brake fluid change that might help, but apply the brakes slowly but firmly as it stops them locking up, Unfortunately all my none ABS MK2's have locked up pretty easily.

got ignition coil yesterday, stuck it in and away she went, big grin back on the gub

steering is a lot better now from fitting coil, not sure why, was told i needed a power steering pump? lol

she failed mot today again on emissions after i changed backbox.

Am stumped, could it be the cat??

weird bumper car smell now from car, am hoping its because i hadnt drove it in a while, was like that for about a week after i first got her.

Anyways just thought id post an update and thank yas all for all help and info.

haha when my coil pack went, and i got a new one, i literally changed the coil pack, didn't even screw it in, and drove around for like 10mins, came back undid the other one then put it on haha! was so happy!

i'm not too sure about emissions, dolly might be able to help you out, drop him a PM (dolly gti) (might have an underscore between)

Alright mate, cheers, would def be interested in the lights, tried pmming you but for some reason i cant, musnt have enough posts yet i guess, what nick are the lights in, (will they pass mot? lol) and also will they fit into my 8v ok?

yeah they should fit mate. they are in good condition and come with the indicators aswell. send me your e-mail and i will send you a picture. where abouts you from?
