They're 225/40/18. Y speed rating advised. XL (extra load) important.

Eagle F1 Asymmetric tyre of choice

Cost

Thanks for the reply.

Do you mind if I ask how much to pay per tyre.

I am considering buying an FR550 currently for sale at a nearby dealer.

Hard Ride

The other day I drove an FR with the 18" alloy option and the ride seemed a little hard for a daily commute on B roads.

Then I drove an FR550 (although on different roads) and the ride seemed OK.

Is this just me?

Thanks.

sometimes can depend on tyre compound. i know bridgestones are pretty hard (hate them with a vengance) was a bit better on dunlops. now i can't comment as my whole suspension set-up is changed. although lower it's more comfortable.

Not a 550?

Upon further investigation, I don't think that this car is actually an FF550.

I think it is a standard FR TDI with wheels and seats from an FR550.

Why do I think this?

No FR550 Badge.
Its only advertised as a FR and not a 550 (at a Seat Main dealer).
I got a online insurance quote for the car and it only came up as an FR.

Why do you think?

Has anyone heard of this before?

I don't really like the idea of driving a car that makes out to be something its not.

No FR550 Badge.

I guess the 550 part of the rear badge may have been removed or just come unstuck.

One other difference is that the FR550 has a USB connector (behind the panel under the front of the driver's seat) and lacks the AUX socket on the centre console that the standard FR has.

I've been back to the dealer today, who is convinced its a 550.

However the V5 only says FR, is this normal?

Have the front seats got plastic backing, a la the cupra, as this was one of the most distinctive features of the 550.

yes, its has the plastic backed seats.

and the 550 Alloys.

My only concern is that these have been retrofitted to the car to make a standard FR look like a 550.

Nah, there weren't many differences and retrofitting those things would cost a fortune.

Its available at a dealer for £14k.

on a 58 plate, 15k miles is the other draw back.

Its someones demonstrator.

They were asking 15k for it, until I saw it on their website for £14k!:D
