Hi guys

Just bought myself a cupra tdi and it's awsome! Only downside is the brakes? Is it just me or are std 288mm tdi brakes total rubbish? i feel like i aint gunna stop!!

Does anyone run just std discs and 2500 pads? does this improve things alittle/alot??

I would love to do the 312mm conversion but got no cheese at present! Does anyone run 288m discs with 2500 pads? is so what's it like? would 288mm disc be ok with a 'future planned' stg 1 remap.

Any advice or other tested opinion on brakes very welcome.

Yes - agreed with the above and IF you decide you want bigger brakes when you do have some 'cheese' all you need are new carriers and 312mm discs - you use the same pads and the same calipers.

Standard brakes are shocking under 'use' :)

Thanks guys

It's just i dont have confidence in the brakes at the mo. Can you get the 312mm carriers from the mk4 golf? i've got a few scrapies around mine. What other vehicles can you get them from? :confused

How about green stuff or red stuff pads? are they any good?

Thanks for advice

Avoid EBC if i was you - stick with what has been tried and tested. If you get the carriers from a Mk4 golf that has 312mm brakes then yes they will fit, however most scrappies are wise to this and often won't sell them seperately.

There are a couple of people who make custom carriers for this, they are around the £100 mark for a pair. Discs will cost you around £80 from CRN Products.

Easy enough however if you're not sure, take it somewhere and get it done - they are a major safety feature. If you want to learn how to do it, find somewhere that will let you watch - or ask a mate who can then you can lend a hand ...... never learn if you don't :)

Thanks UncleFester you live quite close to me.... ;) what would upgrade would you recommend??

If money is tight ... DS2500 on 288mm standard discs
If money is less tight ... DS2500 on 312mm discs with 312mm carriers
If money is not tight - full brake upgrade to 4 pot calipers, DS2500 pads and the biggest disc you can fit :)

Different size discs for the Cupra R brembos ( due to their carriers) and they won't fit on your carriers. Cupra R discs / Carriers are for 323mm.

That said with the right custom carrier you can fit 312mm, 323mm or even 345mm but watch the price increase as you go up a few sizes!!!

How's the ds2500's settling in on std 288mm discs?? Let me know how much off a difference these pads made. It's just it.... £145 all in for the pads from badger bill... £145 JUST FOR PADS!!!! BJESUS!

I think i'm just going do upgrade them (for the time being) because, as said, can always upgrade brakes/pads later.

Upon inspection of my current std setup - it appears the pads arnt completely flush with the discs. i think the pads are quite new. is the normal? Are they still bedding in? Anybody seen this before??

Thanks dudes!

yeah zeap
£145 for pads only £212 with plain ebc discs. i thought thats alot for pads too but if ya wanna go fast, gotta stop fast too. have more confidence in this set up already even though still not bedded in fully

get some you wont be disapointed even on 288mm set up.:D
