hi all i've not long had my leon fr 150. i had a golf gti 1.8t before. my leon however feels a hell of alot quicker than it. i was wondering if its re-mapped? does anyone know how i can tell? i could do with finding out free really cause not alot of cash atm.

the clutch does slip slightly which pushes me towards the fact that its mapped, also it beats a ford racing puma and a clio williams in a race.

any help to point me in the right direction is a bonus.

cheers

this is what i need to find out too mate , i have seen other cars off like a new sri150 astra , which shoulda beat me , my m8 can drive tidy , its lighter and newer & a decent clutch ,

mines heavier and have to feather the throttle to avoid slipage , and proper smoked him ??

the previous owner was led to believe the owner before him might have had it chipped (when the owner b4 me took it back to seat for a service etc , the guy there drove it and said what had he done with the car as it was alot quicker than STD and came to the conclusion it was chipped )

My 150 came out at 168BHP without a remap. In fact I quite liked its performance even without a remap and I reckon doing an exhaust and cold airfeed on it would have seen it jump to around 172-3 bhp easily.

the car has tints and a tdisport.com sticker in the rear window which also makes me wonder?

if anyone happens to know someone who owned an 04 plate fr150 in extreme blue, lowered and tints all round from rotherham let me know lol

looks like it may have had a boot build in at some point aswell.
has got pressed steel number plates aswell.

cheers

I would say a mapped 150 would pull over 5k rpm in third, mine will pull 5300. Though depends on the map and boost level to be fair.

a quick test of acceleration should answer this... 50 to 70 in 4th should take xxx in standard form...

all you need to find out now is what how long it takes a standard one to do lol

I thought my cupra 150 was re-mapped when I got it cos when I checked the service history it was mentioned in converstaion. However, it turns out mine must have been reversed cos the traction control light would have been constantly coming in if it was remapped (even in the dry!). Even standard mine (traction light) still comes on in 3rd and even 4th today in the wet. Not sure how much of this is due to my cheap front tyres, that were put on just before I bought the car!!

I'd want to know asap if it was me....if not for anything but insurance purposes. We all know that insurance companies only want the slightest excuse not to pay out, so if you have a smash and it is indeed remapped but not declared you would have a hell of a time time getting a payout (even if you didn't know).

Plus, be carefull driving round with pressed steel plates on...aren't they for show only?

 Proper tyres make a world of difference and can easily be the factor on whether you survive an incident or not.

If you're having problems with traction control, your tyres are either shot or are really not suited to your car and style of driving. Either that or you're driving a wee bit too hard.

Cannot reasonable recall the last time the TCS kicked in - must have been last drop of snow.

Mine made 178 with just a Piper exhaust system the other week ;) everyone who was there agreed that the rollers were pretty accurate as all the cars were getting what they should have been :funk: lol

I'd say if hes a member of TDIsport.com hes almost certainly had it remapped

HOWEVER
With that said, I drove a 1.4 TSI Leon with 160bhp thats 10bhp more than my car and it felt ALOT slower!

Its because the dervs have the torque that puts you into the back of your seat when you dont expect it.

Why dont you just look at measuring block 11 in VAGCOM/VCDS?

If it makes more than 1,5bar boost, its chipped.

BTW: Stock ARL engines are well known to NOT reach 150hp, most of them end up at about 146-148hp, so a dyno-plot what shows up with numbers like 170+hp is nothing more than toilet paper.

Some of the earlier Revo maps up the idle slightly to around 1000rpm. If you have vagcom look at the soft coding on the engine section. The first digit should be a 0 on mine map turned on is 2, but can also be a numbre 1 as the EDC16 ECU's can take 3 maps in total.

Boo is it just the ARL thats the 150pd? Also is it just the EDC16 that records mileage?

Yes, 150hp TDI PD is always ARL.

And the EDC16 can record way more than just the mileage*g* (you wouldnt want to know*g*)

Unless I have a EDC15P+ and it just shows mileage on the latest vagcom (on vagcome says ECD16 Mileage) so has confused me somewhat
