Brakes

Just been reading this thread
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=212083

and thinking of getting them.

I PM'd the member about if they would fit and got this relpy:

i believe the 312mm fit the mk3 as well as the mk4 and other cars ie golf, corrado etc. a widely used part to be honest

discs appear to be multi stud, not sure if they where used for 4 & 5 tud cars?

So I imagine they was for a mk4, but if the stud fitment is ok, do you think everything else will be?

No. Not direct fit. Its a 312mm conversion. Search. There is info on what needs to be done to make them fit.

didn't think they would! I was supposed to buy another set from someone on here.

Hate the mk3's. Nothing is a direct fit!

I had a set of 312 brakes from a TT, previous owner had done everything to make them fit a mk3 ibiza. All he did was redrill the discs to 4x100 and abit of grinding off the carrier

Think with just an angle grinder but dont quote me on that, it was already done for me when i bought this setup, but later sold it. Like someone said above, i think Reuvers did a quide on this

matt look up my thread on this. I posted plenty of pics what to do. same as in my readers ride

btw, the 'multi spoke' he's talking about does not fit 4x100. The 5x100 has like 10 bolts holes or something. 2 of these will be correct for your 4x100. then the other 2 you'll have to drill yourself.

no! not with a angle grinder. get them milled. shouldn't cost much at all!

it has to be fairly exact, as the milling of the carrier will place the carrier directly in the centre of the disc.

i did say "dont quote me", if im not sure about something thats the best thing to say, wouldnt want to be the person that gave out rubbish instructions.

Anyway i think that thread should help

cheers lads....

seems such a ball ache getting big brakes to fit (unless you spend like £800 or so with Badger5). IIRC, isn't the easiest/cheapest options somethnig like porsche 944 callipers etc and go from there?

Im just going to bite the bullet and get some brembos off badger five in a few weeks, like you said there are not many direct fit brake upgrades for the mk3.. is a pain the the ass!

Matt get the S3 ones. they aren;t expensive and they look good and have a lot more braking surface area.

I read on here on of the lads bought an entire front axle off a leon with the brakes and everything for something like 150 quid.

I paid something like 200 euro's for my set, including practically new discs and pads and metal goodridge hoses.

cool.... it's not like I NEED big breaks now, but on a constant look out for a bargin. So that when I do get big power, I'll already have the stuff to stop ;)

TBH i think that on standard cupra the normal brakes are fine. When you get a remap or ko3s with everything they do show their limiations, especially from high speed braking

I was interested in these aswell, but I think he wants too much for them!! Look on edition38, plenty of lads on there selling the same or very similar setups for nearly £100 cheaper than him recently!!
