Evening all - it's been a long while since I've posted but my 06 Leon 2.0TDI is going in tomorrow for a comprehensive (and well overdue) service.
Currently sitting at 66k miles, the last service was at 53K. No longer under warranty so can use specialist not dealer - taking it to Heriothill Garage in Edinburgh (great recommendations and well respected VAG specialist).
The car is going great - I can hardly believe it but still absolutely NO problems, hiccups or rattles since new. I'm one lucky and extremely satisfied owner.
The car is still running with it's original brake pads and discs and from looking there does appear to still be a bit of mileage left in them. First question - is it time to change these due to age alone? Do they have a lifespan?
Second question - it is still running on the original cambelt. There are currently no squeaks and the engine is running positively smoothly. I've read they should be changed at 4years or 60K so is it time for me to dig deep tomorrow and get the belt changed?
I fear it may well be time to finally spend some hard earned cash on replacing bits which at the moment do not seem to be an issue.
For those of you considering a remap but are concerned about the impact of component longevity afterwards, please let me reassure you that having had mine done at 4k miles (upto 200BHP from 140BHP) the car has been absolutely fault free since as you can see!.
Great, totally underrated car.
