I'm seen them go on ebay for about £700-£800 before. Depends on condition and whether they include pads, discs, lines etc. aswell.

Might as well just go for 312mm. Does the job more than well enough.

I havn't driven a Cupra, but I'd wager that the brakes aren't worth 2.5 times the cost of a 312mm conversion.

Just out of interest what size alloys do you need to fit the 312mm brake conversion. The 17's on the cupra are a tight fit round the ap calipers.

if you want braking performance over looks then i'm sure you can get uprated grooved discs (which is what i'm aiming to get once my standard ones are mullered). these will look good too

I'm sure AMD advertise a brembo brake conversion on there website!

Obviously not cheap but might be worth it if ya pads and disks are shot anyway.

Grooved discs won't make any difference to performance unless your brakes are fading on a race track or something. They'll also wear your pads quicker and be noisier and you'll need uprated pads to take advantage of them...altho they do look good :)

If you want better braking pressure, you need bigger calipers/discs and replace your brake fluid regularly.

I do want better performance but just love the look of racing caliper, been looking into hispec brake kits, calipers come in the usuall colours and look quite nice, there site lists kits for vw and audi so i would expect that one of the kits would fit a ibiza,

check there web site out http://www.hispecmotorsport.co.uk/

Just a point to note.

If ya go for bigger disks it can affect the performance and handling of the car be your increasing the moment of inertia of the wheel.

If you've seen that top gear episode where they take some ugly looking renault and try and make it as fast as an evo. The first thing they did was to get some wilwood calipers and disks which meant they had to buy some bigger alloys so they would fit over them. Stig took it round track and it was 2 seconds slow than the first run.

Your also increasing the unsprung weight which can reduce grip.

You dont need Brembo/AP racing brakes, cross drilled or grooved disc's. The BMW M5 ring taxi runs standard OE discs with Pagid Yellow pads, i run the same in my M-Roadster.

Good enough for a M5 doing 8 min laps of the ring, good enough for me ;)

that's why you get 2 piece disks with alloy bells. the 17's I had on my Focus were lighter than OEM 16's

doesn't the m5 run big 2 piece disks with 4 piston calipers as standard?

Just found this web site http://www.car-brakes.co.uk/ found tt caliplers new for 60 od quid each, is that good? anyone herd of this company befor?
At first glance that site does look good, but if you go to actually order them they charge you a surcharge on each caliper. You end up having to pay 188 quid for em! The only way to avoid the surcharge is to give them your old calipers but I think you have to swap "like for like"?

That's also why super cars are starting to use ceramic disks because they can increase the heat capacity of the disk with out considerably increasing the weight.
