race injectors?

Hi all

Well I've just been forced to re-evaluate tuning my leon. The crap allards turbo has given up the ghost (wastegate duff).

So looks like I'm going to TD to get a 376. I've also just emailed to see if they can do anything bigger if not then its the 376.

Anyway I'll get to the point, I'd want to buy bigger/better injectors, but where from and how much?

I got my race783 injectors from Kerma in the US. Not sure if they are performing as they should as the car is sometimes a bit lumpy like it is running on 3 cylinders. However, on full power, they are pretty good.

What turbo did you have, as my Allard VT5 is still going very nicely indeed.

I paid for shipping 4 stock nozzles out to USA for the overhaul with R783, roughly £25 courier, paid $1200 US for the nozzles & the work (was $2:£1 back then) and a courier back to an injector testing place who I paid £100 to bench test the nozzles before I fitted them.

Basically "quite a wedge", but once stock nozzles run out of fuel, there's little you can do unless you contemplate serious use of propane, or a very methanol rich water/meth mixture

You will still need a set of injector bodies for the nozzles to get fitted in ( £100ish secondhand ) then balanced and pressure tested about £120.

595 euros for 4 is not bad. Cheaper than the US option even with today's currency climate.

If my missing/lumpiness gets any worse, I will be forced to rip out my race injectors and get them looked at professionally.

i was very interested in the r783's but read a lot about them being very smoky, there any truth in that?
Im running meths now but not shore if it can give me as much extra fuel as the r783, Do def need a bigger nozzle for the meths tho dont think im getting the most out of it. its only a 3

how much gains with meth id you have after adding it to the car?? is it noticeable as i am also looking at meth injection

Im using a Turbo Technics stage 2 at the moment. Its the same spec as the Turbo Dynamics. The poor thing must be maxed out.

Yes that was mine filling AMD up with smoke.
The meths has made a big difference. About 2weeks before i fitted it i had it on the AMD RR and got 245Bhp @3911rpm 375Lbft @ 2877rpm the power tailed off with a large drop top end after 4000rpm.

After fitting on the AMD RR it made 260Bhp @3855rpm 398Lbft @2817rpm and just driving it can feel a big change in the performace, on the graph shows the hole power band has changed, its a lot smoother and power tails off much later at 4300rpm and doesn't drop as fast. Thats running about a 60/40 mix with a progressive controller.

Im very happy with it just always in the back of my mind that it might go pop

so where would i get the bodies? are 150 bodies ok?

shame I can't just buy the lot ready to fit.

130 and 150 bodies are identical. I know somewhere you can get a full set for £200 delivered.

PD 130/150/160 injectors are OK. Try ebay, car breaker sites like 24/7 which are very good or VAG forum sales section.

You would have to check part numbers are correct and your bidding on one injector even though there are four for sale.
