turbo whistle?!?

going back to basics
first things first, the beer has just jump started my brain:cheers:now the question, a couple of years ago i had a rover 620ti (don't laugh!) which, apart from breaking down every 3-4 miles, had a fairly loud turbo whistle, the mother in law said it sounded like an aeroplane! it had an induction kit and boosted to around 12psi, now i loved the noise it made and after a stint in a 1.4 automatic Astra i wanted another turbo'd car which is why i bought the Leon, i've got used to a diverter and not a dump valve but the turbo is pretty quiet, is there any way i could get the turbo screaming:confused:

BMC induction
debaffled charge pipe
n249 bypass

forge TIP

if you have a front mount intercooler get a twin CAI that sounds awesome...

definately fit an induction kit (i did it on the cheap and used a universal filter), the filter can fit inside the bottom half of your air box and you can cut the top half to keep the cold air feed blowing nice cold air onto the filter. also fit a forge 007p, you can hear the turbo sucking in air and even using the forge recirc valve, mine sounds like its got an atmospheric DV, its quite loud. Can't wait to hear what its like with new TIP and a remap.

K&N 57i

Hi there,
Im running just a K&N 57i, and the turbo whine that produces is about right. Plus you can hear the DV going off too. Its not defening, but its enough to put a smile on your face...
Also, its still nice and quiet while doing a ton on the M1...
I hit a rabbit at 90 last night tho... and i only just replaced my lower splitter, which is now in 2 pieces!! Dammit!

iv done most of that there, but the soundproofing..iv had mixed opinions on it.

i heard it wil make the general noises louder, like tapping, rattling, clunking etc from the engine and eventually it will get annoying. is that the case?or does it sound alot better?im looking for a louder woosh from the dv,and im in love with the noise when i rev it,would you reccomend me to get rid of mine?

mate trust me i noticed a difference straight away....nope i havent got no tapping noises etc...

the one thing i have noticed which is weird, but when the turbo is spooling up (when really booting it), i can hear a very audible supercharger whine...dont ask me why, cos there is no supercharger, but it sounds wicked.

if you dont want if for the extra noises, at least do it for the engine. more hot air will will be expelled quicker as the soundproofing inst holding it all in...

It's a rover... a shopping trolly will always win because the rover would be sat at the side of road in a cloud of smoke. Dont mean to slate any cars people like/owned but my old rover was HORIBBLE!
