Warm water Is a good way too. Softens the adhesive pads on the back of the lettering.

Or you could use a screw driver to get the letters off, a piece of sandpaper to deal with the adhesive, then a brillo pad to polish. HTH ;)

best way i find is warm water (just between warm and hot) and a credit card. use brasso to get rid of the adhesive.

works a treat :)

whatever you do DONT pull them.

you will more than likely pull the clearcoat off with it.

warm water and dental floss is your best bet. then some tardis to remove the leftover glue.

then re-polish and wax the bootlid

Brasso :shrug::lol:

Boil the kettle - let it cool down for 2-5min - pour it over the letters and get some dental floss to take off the letters.

Give the area a quick wipe/wash and a little polish helped remove anything left - took 10min max

First i used the Search button.... (sorry in a bad mood today)

In short, an alternative way is WD40, use librally, wait for a minute or so, then plastic card and scrap off, clean up any messy gunk afterward with your fav solvent.

fail.

plastic card and scraping dont go well with clear coats. some nice marring for you to polish.

sorry im in a mood aswell ;)

there are less "harsh" ways of doing this - its not rocket science.

hot water.

dental floss.

tardis.

no marring scratches.

you will need to re-wax.

how hard can it be?

not sure how hard you're scraping, the solvents in the WD40 should have soften the glue and foam backing enough that you could just tear the lettering off with your nails, but that just has the tendency to just tear the foam backing leaving it just a slightly harder job to clean up afterwards...
