Did anyone else go? I only went to Somerley Park (first time there) but it was nice.

I was fairly chilled out & got there later on but I got some lovely shots I thought I'd share

I saw a 6R4 being trailered South on the M6 yesterday - looks like that's where it was headed.

Some good shots there - WTF is a Freelander doing in a rally?

It was an M-Sport recce car for the Safari Rally.

http://www.difflock.com/buyersguide/onthehorizon/freelander_msport.shtml

They didn't need them anymore when the Safari was taken off the calendar, so they were converted to rally use. Matthew Wilson drove one when he was doing national rallies to get his licence signatures.

I go to the Jim Clark Rally nearly every year and part of the entry is a Land Rover Defender challenge for armed forces teams. You should see these things jumping about on the wee country lanes.

Nice pics m0rk. :) The 6R4 is one of my favourite cars, although I really can't explain why, it just is.

It is mine too - there was a 'display' of Metro6R4's yesterday to celebrate 25yrs of them... they really are very nice on full chat :)

Cheers Z
there were a few Landies doing it - Disco's etc & a couple of defenders

You could tell from the one that hit the bale that he was coming in wayyyy too hot, threw it sideways & "mounted" a 2ft tall concrete lump before burying the throttle & ploughing into the hay. I think he was flustered :)

(Showing my age :( ) When Group B was launched, I was less involved with motorsport through business interests /moving away from Cumbria.

I went back a few times and I recall we ran a stage on the Scottish Rally (85?). I was start marshal. I was used to the look of the Audi Quattros, Pug T16 and the like, but when the first 6R4 rolled up, it was really :-o :wtf:

 6r4s i always wanted them to do the next shape up the 1990 shape

There are a few sort of facelift versions based on a 6R4 chassis and running gear. One's called the DAM 4100. But it's a horrible looking machine, the panels just don't look right.

There's one running in the Scottish Championship these days. The driver has put the original panels back on it thankfully, but underneath it's running a Powertec V8 engine, as found in the Radical sportscar.

I remember hanging round the start of the Jim Clark a few years back and these kids were going round looking at the cars. One of them saw a 6R4 and said "wow! It looks like a spaceship!" :D

Not this year - have seen it before though & it's awesome.

I think they were trying to stop it running though

first time i saw it running,he floored it and the forest just moved under it.it is awesome to watch, and the boy can drive too.
