Ecomotive alloys

Another newbie your all thinking but I have read around first and I can't find answers to my specific questions so i'm just gonna fire out...

I just bought an 08 Ibiza Ecomotive. Firstly i'm quite happy with how nippy it is. Its getting excellent mpg and I recommend it to anyone who does over 400 miles a week like me cos its nearly paying for itself on finance! :funk:

(1) Firstly i'm looking to put some alloys on it. I'm wondering if the Ecomotive is any different from other models in terms of offset and arches. People have speculated that its the same on here but no-ones confirmed it yet?

(2) If that's true then I would go ahead and assume that 17"x7 or 17"x7.5 oz superturismos will fit without any other modifications, but no-ones put those on and posted. Will these fit? Do I need any further mods like calipers or brakes?

(3) Finally I searched on remapping the ECU but the links in that section map to a page 1.4TDI 75hp Ibiza. That is NOT the ecomotive because its 80hp

I understand this car is new turf so I urge anyone with one to post up any info they have regarding mods. Overall im just looking to lower, add alloys, performance filter and possibly remap depending on the effect on mpg. Thanks

hi and welcome!

in answer to your questions

1.yes all mk4 ibiza's and 5x100 wheel fitment so putting aloys on would not be a problem
2. 17x7 is what the FR and cupras come with so providing they are 5x100 they should fit and try to keep the rolling radius the same other wise your speedo and mpg will be out
3. Remaps should be fine for it. i have my FR tdi remapped by P Torque and i have seen no change in MPG

hope that helps

I don't see the point in spending a LOT of money on an ecomotive over a standard 1.4TDI and then remapping it!

Surely you would have been better off with the cheaper model?

p-torque should map it, although it says 75bhp, the new 80bhp ones are the same engine, the only variation on the eco-motive is the DPF, but p-torque were the first to map the 170bhp 2.0tdi dpf so cant see any problems.

I'm not been funny here, but doesn't it have special alloys/wheels on to help with the mpg?

And also you want it re-mapping??

Surely this is a 'green' car, not something to squeeze power from.

But hey, its not my car so do what you want ! :p

It will use the same offsets and stud pattern as the rest of the mk4 range.

As for the aftermarket wheels, id personally go with them in 16's, particularly if you dont plan on lowering the car.
They will help to maintain better MPG.

The remap wont be a problem. I believe Revo already offer a map for this car, and im sure many other tuning companies will be able to sort it too. Wouldnt worry about losing any economy either. Should if anything improve, as they wont have gained the optimum with the standard mapping.

Yes they do have specially designed wheels AND tyres to help with economy. But tbh i reckon this bloke has the right idea! Free tax, now ruin the "greeness" of it! :D

Remap it, lower it, straight through exhaust, panel filter, alloys....and all for free tax!

Chris4500uk, i like your style my man! ;)

lol, well i'm thinking all the exterior plastic can be sprayed. Then lower + alloys and ive got myself a sheep in wolfs clothing. Nice looking + Eco

Then at a later date when i've got more cash and don't need to be super tight i'll start tuning and maybe not even loose much mpg. Can't loose. Got it for 8,295 with 6k on the clock, show room car.

Next question is roof rack. I want something that can come on and off for surfboards. Seat told me they are redesigning for 08 because it was damaging the roof

Halfords thinks i need 3 bars across because there are no fixing (Thule wanted specificly) but i think the guy was clueless! anyone put roof racks on an 08 3dr yet?

Thanks for all your replys. I think 16's are the sensible option but i cant resist 17" superturismo Gt's 3.6% diffrence to rolling radius, may loose just 2 or 3 mpg if that.

I will post a pic from standard and progress soon. I'll also be putting up milage after mods on wheels and springs and in the future remap so watch this space...

The Thule roof rack will fit no problems and won't cause you any problems - it's just two bars, I had one on mine. The SEAT rack was made by Atera and has been known to cause roof damage - so avoid Atera racks. I'd love to know where Halfords thought the third bar was going to fit!!

I still don't understand why you bought the Ecomotive over the standard 1.4TDI model though. If you're remapping it then you're obviously not concerned by the fuel ecomomy side of things and the ecomotive is SO much more expensive than the standard model. Tax on the standard model's only £35 a year too - just curious really as to why you bought the Ecomotive!?!

The idea is that at the moment i'm in debt and driving over 400 miles a week. I bought the eco on finance and im saving enough in fuel to help pay for it. I have a new job waiting for me starting in jan 2010. By then i'll have decent money and I can afford to run a more guzzeling car, so rather than change it, where I will loose a lot. I though I could remap and tune a little in about a years time, leaving me to slowly improve it cosmetically now. The eco is very plastically and high on tiny 14" 70% profile tyres!

Lets jump forward to jan 2010... Does anyone think it would be cheaper for me to sell the car, and by a newish FR or Sports Coupe?

Sorry to drag up such an old thread, but I was wondering if OP (or anyone) had successfully remapped an Ibiza 1.4 Ecomotive?
Thanks
