So do I.

I could live with £2k.

Im used to paying over 2k due to my postcode, but If I was in your shoes I wouldnt want to pay 2k on something as boring as a 5 series. Hothatch or sportscar yes, but a not overly fun to drive heavy beemer?

You what? I honestly don't understand.

BMW 530i Sport. 240hp, RWD.

0-60 7 secs dead. 7.1 if your a pedant.

And that is more of a drivers machine. BMW's slogan is "Ultimate Driving Machine" and the right cars sure aint dull! Yeh ofc the the lowest specced models/engines etc are not worth it, but if I could, that would likely to be where my money is going.

I'd much prefer a 540i, but normally all are auto, and that would jsut be OTT to insure. M5, but them I'm asking to die in a firey flame ball, and thats before I pay £8000 to insure it.

But if the time comes, and the good Beemers are too much over 2k (to insure) , then I'd go for something else. Sporty hatch, Audi or similar. Sure they aint the fastest things in the world, but they do handle well, and they are involving to drive. And they look the dogs bollocks if I do say so, myself.

4 of my mates drive bmws. 2 of them E46 M3's. The rest 330ci's and one of the lads with the m3 had a e46 320ci drop top before that. Yes the 330ci's are fast in a straight line, but ultimately they are not that much fun to drive compared to a good old hothatch. The M3's are just in a different league though.

bmw's slogan doesnt mean anything, its just marketing, the truth is with each carnation of bmw all that is happening is that they are getting heavier and loosing more and more steering feel as they do so.

BMW's do look nice with the m sport kit, but without they are extremely boring to look at, and either way every man and his dog will still have one.
