Evening All :D

my ignition key is flashing constantly,is this a dying battery warning?? reason i ask is all fine earlier, left house, popped the central locking using the fob, stuck key in ignition and noticed it had started flashing constantly and still is 5hrs later. now central locking won't work from fob,so i'm assuming battery is on its ass, although i thought the flashing would kill it quicker:shrug: have never changed the battery and the CL is fine if activated/deactivated using key in lock. just thought it a little strange it only started when key was put in ignition......

Am i on the right track or is it something weird n wonderful??

sounds like the button is stuck down

they only need a gentle press as it's a small micro switch but most people squeeze em hard to make em work better :)

quite precise inside and when they get pressed too hard for a while it wears down and slips over jamming it down

there was a guide i did years back on what to do

http://www.seatcupra.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=63&Itemid=6

half of it (and diagrams) is missing though :(:( ill redo it over the weekend but you will probably need some batteries for sure (2x CR2016)

always had 2 in mine with the usual seperator plate - might be a 1X CR2032 instead mind

20 is diameter in mm
32 is the thickness 3.2mm

2x cr2016 / 1x cr2032 will both fit in the same hole

Thanks Flaps, all sorted :D got the key apart, seems was stuck as you said, popped it back together and tested from the balcony all locking and unlocking as normal, key all in one piece again now!! i must've inadvertently pressed the button when putting key in ignition earlier

and yep looks like 2 batteries in there, not that i got that far

Thank God i don't have to suffer the indignation of locking and unlocking manually, eugh! perish the thought :p

lmao, hark at you two

Brum 2xcr2016 has always seemed to be best to be honest and i'm sure that's standard on mk2, but when the Leon/Toledo first came out we had no end of people coming back with remote troubles and always seemed to be one cr2032 inside em, a few cars several times too :( . Started replacing em with 2xcr2016 instead and seemed to solve the problem.

BT glad ya sorted - saves me breaking mine open for a naked photoshoot :) mind you could do with redoing the old guide anyway

Flaps.. wifey rang me today to remind her what battery I needed, told her 2016.. (same as she already got me) so I can rejoin the higher classes as Clare calls them.

Clare.. how false is that grovelling!!
