HELP:::::::cry:
i am working in norway and due to my ignorance the cambelt went on my ibiza gti 16v 1998 r reg,.... needless to say i need a new engine... i put my car into a local garage here and they came back after apparently trying 2 engines from where i dont know saying they cant do anything because there engines being left hand drive wont fit my right hand drive car...... i just dont beleive this to be gospel

does anyone know for sure if

1.. golf gti engine or any other is the same

and 2.. if the steering wheel been on the opposiye side does actually make a diff when it comes to mounts ect....

Hi,

Assuming you've got the 2.0 16v (ABF engine code), then yes, it was fitted to the mk3 golf 16v too.

Not sure on the left/right hand drive question though.

manifold? as in similar to 4-1 won't fit? or am i confusing this with something else?

really can't see SEAT producing 2 manifolds for LH & RH drive although i'll wait & see if i'm wrong

if it's the same engine then shouldn't be any problems using the bare motor

ancillaries/inlet/ex manifolds/wiring etc could well be different LHD but using the original RHD stuff swapping over would cure that
