Dash Problem?

I hope this is the right place to post this.

Today my FR wouldn't start:(, well it fire up and stalled immediately..like immobiliser kicking in. However the dash had no lights on it at all noticed there was condensation around the ignition and near the door.

Called SEAT Assurance who got the AA to me within an hour...The guy checked all the fuses (they were all fine) and battery but couldnt sort it out so it has been towed back to the dealer I got it from 6 months ago.

Tried both keys, lights work as do indicators (but nothing displayed on dash). The radio and aircon have power and were working fine.

Now waiting for the hire car to turn up.

Anyone had anything like this?

Cheers

Got a call earlier from the dealer, they have confirmed it is the dash. Apparently I need a new one and they are trying to source one for me. I hope it doesnt take long.

Wasnt impressed at having to give a deposit of £250 for the hire car (I dont have a credit card so was using my debit card), will take upto 14 days for me to have refunded... :( The car is under warranty and being sorted by Seat.

wouldnt be too happy at leaving that for the hire car but as has been discussed before a hire car is something that doesnt have to be given, hope it all goes ok and just keep on at the garage

It gets better...I have my car back and it has a dash off another car until a new one arrives apparently from Spain.

However I asked about the mileage on my car, I know roughly what is was but the new dash will come with nothing on. It had done just under 12000 miles but I dont know exactly, they can put the approximate mileage on it. Seems poor that they cant get the mileage off the old dash some how.

On the plus side I have the car back til the new dash arrives so I can take it for its tidy up tomorrow. Having the rusty wheel hubs painted and the brake calipers too.

Anyone else had any dash probs?

cheers

am paying £75, I am not brave enough to do it myself plus dont have a garage or anywhere to do it.

They are gonna clean up the rust on the hubs and paint them black. And they are also gonna clean up the calipers and paint them red. Apparently they will be putting on 3 coats.

I thought it was quite a good price, was expecting it to cost more.

Having exactly the same problem with my FR Tdi. Waiting for Seat assistance as we speak. Car had been left on the driveway for about 4 days, no problems at all before then.
Will post again when I have more news.

Checked out the no2 fuse at the end of the dash whilst the AA man was on the phone to find out where the fusebox was. Fuse was fine, so it looks like a faulty dash. Being collected tomorrow morning. AA Man also let drivers door swing into a brick wall which did nothing to help my humour. Will check for damage in the morning when it is light.

Havn't I read on here elsewhere that many were successful in geting a wheel spacer repaint done for free on warranty? ........ due to Seat not fitting a suitably finished item on construction

£75  They saw you commin' A tin of hammerite, a wire brush and a good paint brush would cost £15. Why don't you do them yourself? All you need to do is jack up each corner, remove the wheel and you're away.
