another problem, fans!

Right guys i have searched and can't find a thing  Sorry for the million and one questions

So my fans are not working at all but the coolant run on pump works once the car is switched off.

From searching it seems that the melted fuse scenario controls both, so why would my fans not be working but the coolant run on pump is? Fuse is fine by the way.

Anything else i need to check to see why the fans are not working?

The fans have never worked since i got the car, coolant temp sensor and outside air temp changed last week.

Thanks

First off try running a direct feed to the fans from the battery to make sure the fans themselves have not burnt out. If they work ok then its most probably your thermostat playing up.

Was going to try that tonight with the battery,

Any idea where the thermo stat is?

Which one, as my mine melted on the far passenger side, took it out cleaned it and replaced the fuse. New fuse box thing coming today hopefully.

Anything else I can check guys?

if its getting up past normal operating temp the fans should come on if the thermostat wasnt working it would cause it to overheat but the fans would still work wiggle the fuses about on the top of the battery when its just starting to get up towards the red and they should come on dont let the car overheat though dont want to cause more damage. but as the last post sys if you run a live and earth down to the fan that would let yopu know if its the actual fans or somthing else

Guys a ran a a battery to the fans and they worked,

i changed the thermostat at the radiator and nothing has happened.

Anyone have any ideas what to do, fans won't kick in and dont want it to get too hot and cause damage.

obviously it has to go over the normal before it comes on if it is going over and there not your almost garrenteed it will be the fuse on top of the battery try by passing the fuse with a piece iof wire see if they come on then but you have to test it when its above the normal temp
