Do you know the weight of this wheel?

isnt each kg dropped in alloy wheel weight equivelant to 32kg dropped in weight removal of the actual car?

SEAT alloys will still be heavy. Just go aftermarket.

I know a guy with an FR that has the exact same wheels, I'll ask if he knows their weight.

Realistically there is only one solution for someone looking for lightweight wheels and that's OZ Racing, either Ultraggera or Ultraleggera HLT. Still in 18 inches they don't weigh less than 7-7.5 kg each, so that's maybe 4-5 kg less altogether.

It's not so much a matter of total car weight though, it's mostly to do with reducing the unsuspended mass.

Still no positive answer...I don't want any change in my car's performance..

If you can spot the difference in performance between a standard 18 and one that weighs 1 or 2 kg less I will eat the old wheels and tyres. Unless you are a F1 driver then I guarantee you the difference will be un-noticeable even then I think you would struggle.
Also if it weighs less will this not upset the suspension and may ruin the handling it is not all benefits to having lighter wheels you know.:p

guys the car's wheels are 16'' at the moment so thats why I am so curious .. because the engine is 1.4tsi 125bhp so I wonder how the car will act after the change to 18''...cause the orginal 16'' wheels are 8.5kg each..so there will be a change of 2.5 kg on each wheel if the 18'' BBSs are 11kgs each...thats why I am asking to you...

Im actually thinking of modifying the passenger seat belt adjuster so that the MFD displays actual weigh of my passenger in KG, that way if a fat ******* wants a lift I can calculate the effect this will have on preformance and make a judgement call... Only problem is Im not sure my missus will pass so I will have to be careful....

Warwickshire once.
I dont think its a daft question, If you were looking to run your car on a quarter mile sprint you would want every tenth of a second you could get. ie remove rear seats, spare wheel, fat git (sat next to you), lights, indicators, etc. so if dearly beloved is going to be doing this sort of thing it may be very relevant.

If its concerns about normal road use and handling then I would say borrow some 18's from someone for a day and run them to see how you feel about them.

Im sure once on you will feel that they loook great but the car will feel chppier across bumps and uneven roads.

As for acceleration, I doubt you would notice it.

Do you think that will it really make a difference with the accelaration in a negative way?

Ok, perhaps we're being a little harsh on the guy, on a Sunday afternoon this can't be good...

Seeing as it's "only" 125 BHP, the difference will be spotted, and it will be to the worse. More importantly, the brakes may have a difficult time braking since the unsprung weight would be (in your case) more.

On the other hand, you'll have a slightly faster and more responsive (crispier) steering wheel, as well as better cornering ability due to the lower tyre profile.

Personally I think a 17 inch wheel would be the best compromise.

Leon Superleggera !

How about cutting down on a few other bits of weight ?

I have removed my under-bonnet sound insulation, it seems to make little difference to the sound, plus removed rear headrests and rear carpets, plus fancy trye valve caps, Cd's and junk ! ... must have saved about 15-20 lbs !

And what about the service book folder ? It weighs about 2lbs !

Get rid of all the un-needed clutter in your car and you will improve performance and economy for free !

All good , - I am taking a leaf out of Lambo's book ! :D

I for one was not being sarcastic, - I have removed all these items from my car this weekend and it all helps with performance and economy. :)
