Turbo Timer for LCR

Hiii!

I've had a LCR for just over a year, and still buying bits and pieces for it.

At the moment, I'm looking around for a good (reliable) turbo timer and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or ideas for me??

As above more hassle than they're worth. Better to cool down in the last couple of miles or so and leave on tickover for 2 mins at the end of your journey.
The cooling pump will then take over for 5 mins or so when the ignition is off.

status subject to change
few points:

1, your better off cooling it for the last few miles.
2. any incident with it will mean the insurance is invalid
3 you can technically get done for using it. (not in control of car etc)
4 if you ever park on a hill you may find the car isnt where you left it. i always leave cars in gear. just search for threads on this. especially as it sounds like you drive it hard them park. you will be potentially suspectable to handbrake issues.
5. cooling on the move is more efficient than at standstill.

Turbo Timer fitting?

Hi Guys,

My first post as I am picking up my 2002 Cupra R 210 on wed, and want to fit my turbo timer wondering if anyone knows what the correct wires are to splice into in regards to picking up the O2 sensor reading. If not any idea where I may pick up a wiring diagram for this circuit.

what sort of timer is it? i can get you a copy of the diagram from a mate whos going to do mine. having trouble with mine at the moment. need a certain t-piece loom that cuts into wiring, but cant find one for the life of me. how have you got round wiring yours?

I heard that they were a massive hassle because of the chip in the key, and that's stopped people before.

Also there has been lots of "why don't you just take it steady for the last mile or two of your journey, eliminating the need for a turbo timer" discussions on here before

Don't think you will find the 'T piece' you are looking for I would plan just to splice into the wires at the ignition wire.

The turbo timer will work fine with key in but if you want to remove key and lock car and walk away! (why!) then you will have to bypass the CCM as this wont let you lock car while engine is running.

Can be done something to do with fuse number 6 there is a guide online if I find it again I will post link.

I think taking it easy will help but I thought the idea was to let oil drain from turbo at idle while turbo was spinning down even taking it easy you will come on boost.

the leon is fitted with a coolant pump that runs coolant around the turbo ater youve turned the engine off for a few mins.
for normal driving it should be enough.
if your giving it the beans then go gently the last mile or so and let things get back to normal temps. turning straight off will leave the oil left in the turbo cooking.
same goes for brakes, stopping directly after hard use will trap heat under your pads whereas a cooldown lap/mile will even the temps better.

better to invest in an oil temp gauge IMHO:) then you know when its safe to play and safe to turn off
