i've got a fr 130 tdi and am thinking of buying a dump valve but have heard from a people that it effects performance and its great for diesels.

does anyone know if there is any problem with fitting one and will there be any negative effects?

cheers

Diesels dont have dump valves. They not designed to use them mate so just put the money towards a remap.

IIRC there like £200+ £200+ just to make a whooshy sound. I'd just add another ~£50 and get it remapped. At least you will be able to tell where you cash has gone and it will put a big :D on your face.

Put in another £50 and get a remap, this with a green filter will then make proper turbo spool up sounds rather than a wooshy chav sound.

haha T. Spark!!!

its got a nice factor of the sound of a petrol turbo engine...but why kid yourself....it serves no performance purpose on a diesel engine.

Well you all laugh , but to be fair we fitted a Forge one on a Fabia vRS abd you know it really did sound nice
I am sorry , it was not chavvy if anyone thinks that I am going down that route
To the point where I REALLY REALLY want one
To me , it just sounded like a Golf 1.8T etc with a Carbonio......
The car had been mapped , it had NOT lost any power at all
Yes not cheap , but then too Carbonio`s are not
As it was a Forge one , quality product and I have to say , I was very very impressed!!!!!!
Sorry if that does not meet to all of your opinions, but that is mine

sorry sarah, i wasnt laughing at the fact of one being fitted, just at what T. Sprak said about spending that amount of money on something else....

i have to admit, my friend has one fitted to his bora which also a diesel and is quite highly tuned, he is running a big turbo with larger injectors and the car is mental, and the dump valve doesnt sound bad, but like i said it isnt functional...

Mmmm true , it is not fuctional
It is there to do 1 thing and 1 thing only
To bring a :D on your face
I am sorry , my opinions changed sooooo much on these after I gave them a try
I was impressed , now........ I have to be a good girl to see if Father Christmas will buy me one ;)

I wouldn't have thought a DV would work on a diesel as they don't have a throttle valve for the air coming in so there would be no need for one to divert the pressured air out of the manifold would there? They're needed in Petrols because the throttle valve slams shut when you lift off and the pressured air has to escape some where!

How does a DV work on a TDI?

Please don't. Only look good on Scoobys and Evo's.

On a diesel? I beg you not to.

They are usually controlled electronically. They don't work in the same way as a petrol as they don't perform any function other than making a noise when you lift off.

Just seems pointless! May as well spend the money on something useful, like beer!

Hey and Whiskey......
True , but when you have the map , ARB`s , suspension kit , Induction kit , lots of beer in the house and a lovely Malt Whiskey......
What else do you spend your money on? ;)
Still want one.......
Sorry
