In my experience it definetly does have an effect on the climate control

As a few people have said, if the ext temp sensor is reading high temperatures in cold weather then the hot air will not be as hot as it should be. This was certinly the case when mine was broken, I had to have it on 28 or HI to get hot air.

I'm sure I read somewhere on the forum that this was the case when mine was broke as I searched for it. Can't find it now though :(

Unfortunetly the heating does use the external temp sensor.

When mine was broke, it was reading too high, so the climate control was assuming it was warm outside and blowing in cold air, even though it was absolutly freezing.

There's also an internal temp sensor as well and the system uses both.

Razor, replacing your temp sensor will make your car blow hot air. But another thing you could do is hold in the Auto button for a few seconds to switch it to manual mode. Then you have the option of selecting H1,2,3 or L1,2,3 - H being high, L being low.

This switched the climate control off basically, allowing you to select a heat and have the system constantly stick to it. A good temporary solution to your problem!

I got exactly same problem last night, only heats on hi setting now otherwise a/c kicks in and freezes my feet and hands, anyone know where to get a new sensor?:(
