There is a guy from the UK who has bought this unit, I'm going to PM him for more details.
There are also lots of guys in Australia who have bought it and are raving about it.

Obvious concerns about import tax and warranty, quality does not seem to be an issue.

Its a cheap Chinese knock off, if thats your thing then go for it, its certainly a step up from the factory stereo.... but a RNS-510 challenger it aint!

You get what you pay for, that said I would NEVER have paid £1500 for my unit!

Had a look at the thread and if you dont have the factory bluetooth then I guess its a decent option as it seems to have its own system and mic and also the fact you can have tomtom software means you can have speed camera warnings etc.... im sure it would look pants though as tomtom is very poor even on a 4" screen so on a 7" one it will look like your driving around at LegoWorld....

You are right, you do get what you pay for and personally I don't want to pay over £400 for a car stereo. I don't have fitted bluetooth and have TomTom Navigator 6 on my PDA which is fantastic, so I'm seriously tempted by this unit. I'm in the process of haggling over the price with the manufacturer as we speak.

For £300 it looks a steal, I do have reservations however, I've tried the odd chiPod in the past and the user interface is generally awful. I'd like have a go on one before deciding.

If does have lots of functionality though. No idea what I'd use a DVD player for (lucky in that my commute I'm rarely in queuing traffic).

I just said to someone on another thread that I thought it was good value for money, but like pstables said dont expect the user interface to be that great, or the screen, or the speed... it has a few functions that the RNS510 doesnt have especially the video formats its played, but I have had my unit almost 10 months and used the DVD player once in all that time when my sons Cricket match was washed out and we waited to see if it cleared up....
Good luck to anyone that gets one, hope its as good as it sounds....

$540 is what I was just quoted, I'm trying to haggle......
That's £360 + whatever import tax + no real warranty, I'm still undecided.

That's not such a bad thing, HDD's don't take too kindly to vibration, as a former laptop repair tech, the failure rate of HDD's would not fill me with confidence, solid state HDDs/flash memory are the way forward...

It has the cd changer interface, I'd connect the usb interface, which treats the usb stick as a 6 cd changer...

Seems to have dual SD slots in the front, one for the satnav, and a seperate one for music...

I PM'd a UK guy off the Australian forum who has bought one of these, this is what he says....

The unit is really good - I got the one with the freeview built in and the picture quality is amazing (although I do need to find a place to permenatly mount the aerial!)

The route66 software it came with was a bit out of date but after a couple of days fiddling I have got iGO8 to work, going to give tomtom a try this weekend - its a really good feature how you can listen to any music and navigate at the same time (you can also watch dvd / tv in motion!)

My unit came in 3 days by DHL so no problems there, the manual is a waste of time and the radio interface not the best, but for a bluetooth car kit, sat nav and mp3 player its a steal !
