No need for winter tyres as we don't get no where near as much as we used to do
I'll just use the wifes Punto for now with little thin tyres

its only snowed once since ive had my ibiza....and i crashed...in my work car park!! lol

i am saving up for some Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres to go onto my car, have read some good reviews on these and they are supposed to be good winter/wet tyres...hopefully!

That's why I was laughing at my manager at work last night for having to drive home in snow and ice with his Merc SL320
Did a fair bit of snow driving over the past few mornings and it went fine. I don't find the Ibiza is too bad in the snow. Not any worse than the Corsa or Clio I used to have. They were very understeery cars in normal weather, but the Ibiza's fine as long as you're careful with the right pedal......
They're still summer tyres though, so don't expect miracles - I've got them on the back of the Ibiza, they're good in the wet.
F1's are good in the wet and dry, but at this time of year I think I'd be better off with a decent set of winter tyres.
Good year are listed as all season when I bought them online?

Eagle Vector+, Vector5, Cargo Vector & Wrangler HP All Weather
The F1's - GSD3 & Assymetric, as well as Eagle NCT, Hydragrip and Eagle Vector are listed as performance summer tyres.

i live in berlin and drive down to the chech boarders sometimes to go snowboarding!!
the point is this Tools for the Trade!!! here in germany its not mandatory although some backhanders from the tyre companies have gone round and in some provinces/areas it is law. also if you have an accident regardless of whos fault it was, no snow tyres on in winter then your footing the bill.
i have the cupra r rims with GT radials snow somethings on (sh%t but better than the summer tyres in cold weather.
most summer tyres are supple down to about 7degs or so start going lower and on a frosty mornings around 0 degs its going to be fun!! thing is to be safe and keep the car on the road you drive to the condtions slapping on a set of snow tyres for a few weeks is not going to kill you but if you dont it might.

Ive got toyo proxes on and mine its fine in the snow and ice infact suprisingly good!
I drove upto the "cat 'n' fiddle" (highest pub in the country) last night. Just for the sake of having a blast about in the snow really. I even overtook a defender on the way up
I think alot of it is the way you drive to be honest.
If you have had practice of driving on the snow and know what to expect if and when it lets go then i think you stand a good chance of getting about ok.
I had to tweak the handbrake a little this morning actually to avoid understeering into a parked car, at the end of the day what sort of idiot parks on the outside of a bend nearly blocking the road in the snow! haha

Think theres some misconceptions going on here, winter tyres are designed for low temperatures, not just for when there's snow on the ground!

The worst vehicle....ever in the snow has to be a 2wd pickup. RWD and no weight over the rear axle.
We've never had snow since I've had the navara, but it's rubbish on wet grass in 2wd so I wouldn't imagine it would be much better on snow. Luckily you can change between 2wd and 4wd on the fly so hopefully shouldn't embarrass myself as has been stated earlier

This is normally the kinda weather we get in Jan/Feb?
Might be more likely to get more of this weather?
Goodyear F1 are not great in snow and really bad on ice. For this reason I have stuck with P-Zeros on the Cupra tdi; these are not as bad as F1 in snow/ice but they are no way as good in wet/dry. Horse for courses.
So not great in snow but not bad ... older 110 Passat tdi I knew at one point was terrible.. there was no low throttle sensitivity and the traction control was very poor .. so either you span or you chewed your way up on traction control and no throttle. Best was naturally aspirated Citreon BX diesel.. narrow tyres, plenty of torque, soft suspension, flat floor and when it got really tough you could lift the suspension on the hydraulics. Used to drive through snow drifts that went over the wing mirrors .. and tow trailers in 4" of snow, 6" was certainly no problem.
Worst issue with Cupra is the ABS .. you cannot turn it off .. last winter did at least 3 very emergancy handbrake stops/spins/flicks to get it into verge so it stopped. It is great on ice but deep snow really is bad (without ABS you build a wedge up in front of tyre and so stop).
.. and yes the laws of physics still apply to all cars when on the brakes ... so the 4x4 brigade learn eventually

tyres websites I went on lie then! lol oh well as I said it v rarely snows here just rains wouldn't want these tyres if I was a northerner then!
