Leon rear spoiler question

Hey I did a quick search on here that bought nothing up. I was wondering about the rear spoiler thats an optional extra for the Leon.

1. Why is it such an odd shape?
2a. Does it even work, I mean the middle bit is missing?
2b. The Leons a fwd car, surley its just taking traction away from the front wheels?
3. Who likes it?

1. I have one on my Leon & I don't think it's odd at all. It blends in nicely with the rest of the car.

2a. The middle bit will be missing so that it doesn't foul with the ariel

2b. I doubt the spoiler will make any difference what so ever to the traction whether it's FWD or not.

3. I think a lot of people like the spoiler. Here's some pic to decide for yourself:D

I know what you mean & it does look a bit like it's just been 'stuck on'. If you like the style fair enouh but clearly it serves no purpose.
Don't think it needs it myself but to each their own as ever! :)

Of course it serves a purpose...Styling:D:D

There will only be a small percentage of cars with rear spoilers on which will actually provide additional downforce. These are likely to be Supercars which cost big bucks which have had huge amounts of development put into producing them.

That's kind of what i'm getting at when i say it serves no purpose (as in downforce purpose)

& as i did say if you like the styling.... fair enough!

The car is looking nice ricky. Well I have the spoiler, at first I didn't like it but it grew on me and now can't imagine my car without it.

I guess I should get it when I get my FR in spring. Or is there a proper performance spoiler (im thinking of doing some track days), ohh and don't say get a cupra im 21 and cant afford it lol.

Would any spoiler make a difference on a Leon?

I been on the SEAT track day in a Cupra and not have a spoiler made no difference.

I like it. I think the car looks a bit limp without it.

I like the rear spoiler (cos it looks good) but personally I don't think spoilers/diffusers etc would really start taking effect until your doing well in excess of 100mph and even then you'd be needing something like the old escort cossie setup (which would look hideous!!:headhurt:)
