Blimey maz, I better start modding again, your nearly as "custom" as me now...;)

Stuff looks good, I REALLY need to pop round one night to see it all in the flesh, no excuse really when you only live 0.2 miles from your house! lol

Car Update - Flywheel problem and strange induction problem
-----

Bit of bad and good news.

Yesterday I started to get some bad vibration coming from the drivers footwell. My initial thoughts were that the SFS pipes where rubbing somewhere however I couldnt isolate the noise. Whilst I was driving around to see what kind of noise it was I started to get clutch slip when putting my foot down. Of course my immediate thoughts were the clutch has finally given up ghost, a dogbone mount issue or driveshaft problem (unlikely as the handling and driving was smooth and responsive).

Taken it down to AmD this afternoon for analysis and my fears were confirmed, looks like the flywheel is knackered (not bad for a car thats done 27k and around 6k with a remap). Another bit of bad news is I am getting a weird induction / turbo problem, this is under investigation. That's the bad news.

The good news is I will be getting a full Sachs Organic Clutch rated at 400lb/ft. Furthermore I will also be getting Quaife ATB 6 Speed Differential at the same time :D. I know its quite an expense however the benefits of having one are just to overwhelming. Anyone who has been in Slicks car will understand just how amazing these Diffs are in handling and grip. I think I'd rather have the ability to put a full 195BHP down on the road, than 230BHP and get massive amount of wheel spin. It will also allow me to get a stage 2 map put on to harness the exhaust and SFS upgrades.

Opinions welcome...

Sounds amazing!

I wonder if the cold brings out the faults on a flywheel. I had the 1st smell of burning clutch today, but I did hold it on clutch in reverse whilst my windows were lowered so I could see where I was reversing (I must have another crappy door leak as my windows are always misted).

The smell was bloody awful, I couldnt tell if it was my clutch slipping or my wheels spinning on the way home.

Got bad feelings about my clutch/flywheel and turbo at mo - just had my lowest return of miles from a full tank..... 385 Miles :s

My MPG is down at the moment, guessing its the weather! So fingers crossed nothing to worry about.

I'm also suffering from the lovely wet inside windows as well, deep joy!

You've got an uprated clutch haven't you Chris?

Actually thinking about it, it may just be the friction discs and not the Dual mass that has given up but I wont know that till it is all taken out. If the Dual mass goes I would hear it knocking against the gear box but that hasnt happened so it must be another component of the clutch.

As for the smell, I remember reading that reversing is the most stressful thing you can do to a clutch? Not sure if it is true? As for telling if your clutch is slipping, I had a hard time to hence driving around for a couple of hours going slow, fast trying to see if the tyres were slipping or clutch. Eventually I think it was both!

MPG, mine is touching around 410 at the moment. I dont think 385 is too bad chris, depends what type of driving your doing of course.

Yes the Sachs unit mate, I've been out in it today and had a play with some BMW, I don't know what model it was cos he didnt manage to get passed :) - car felt quick again. I tried disconnecting the MAF today, LOL! It gets to 2k RPM and it just wont rev anymore....feels really bizzare.

Will be interesting to see exactly what is wrong with ur clutch or flywheel. I might drop my 10/40 oil out soon and go for the 507.00 option, a 5/30 should be more MPG freindly for the winter.

Thing with my MPG is if I drive like a granny then I get anywhere between 38-44MPG, if I drive like a biatch then I see 41-42MPG and I just can't believe the two differences in driving style only shows a 3-4MPG difference.

My car just does not like part throttle at mo, so shall do the EGR racepipe and take it from there!

No doubt we'll get the full SP on Wednesday Maz. Don't forget - this Wednesday!!!!

Incidentally MPG still at an average of 46 at the mo. :D Surprising really because its been so cold and the engine is only at full operating temperature a couple of miles away from work (7 miles).

Dont think I will be making Wednesday Lee :(

AmD have got back to me in regards to the turbo problem. Looks like the MAF is not working as it should hence the pulsing from 1700-2000RPM on light throttle.

Bloody MAF's!!!!
Yes they stated that its not totally broken hence only happening on light throttle and between 1700-2000rpm. However when the car has been driven Kenny@AmD said its running a bit flat. That means that when the new MAF is on I should get more power so I am happy that the car will run even better than it has been.

Maybe your car has problem with MAF too?
