Just unplug it.

Or are you on about fitting seats that don't have side-airbags ?

In which case, bridge the wires with a 5ohm resistor before re-connecting the battery (ideally, cut the plug off the seats and fit the resistor to the plug rather than butcher the vehicle wiring)

Riiiight, I get what's going on now....

TBH, you're better keeping this all in one thread, or if you do start a new one don't assume that people have spotted your previous posts

Most - myself included - just use the NewPosts link at lunch so it's not obvious what's going on even if you're still posting in the same section.

*disconnect battery before unplugging airbags and leave battery disconnected until airbags are plugged back in* :)

I am thinking of taking out my seats as have something to do on them that will take a few hours at a time but have a concern that disconnecting the battery and leaving it disconnected for that lenght of time will reset the ecu and loose all learned adaptations - which I'd rather avoid.

So is it entirely necessary to leave it disconnected? Or can I reconnect it after the seat is removed and if only for a few minutes should the adaptations be kept?

Also, can the seat be removed without having to remove the black bottom surround bit?
Thanks

iv just put my seats back in after a long couple of weeks if not longer as i had a water leak. had to start the car up couple of times. Quiet a easy job, just make sure you unplug the airbag front under the seat and plug it back the same way once your done i have the airbag light on, but im guna have to get hold of VAG COM any ideas where from

Suppose your right. May aswell.

Will I get the airbag light only coming up if I start the car with the seat disconnected?
Or best to disconnect battery negative, remove seat and disconnect airbag. When done seat goes in, reconnect airbag and last thing reconnect battery.

Thanks
Am adding red stitching to the seats

dissconnect battery leave it till you put seats back in then connect battery back up make sure you dont connect the battery with the seats out like i did otherwise expect the airbag light to go on.
