HID problem :(

I noticed a problem with my HID's the other night. I have the £40 ebay set which has proved popular with a lot of members on here. For those of you that have them, you will know that when you first turn them on they take a few seconds to "warm up". Well on one side, the light gets brighter and brighter as it "warms up" as usual, but then when at peak brightness it cuts out, and won't come on until it's been off for a while and has to warm up again.
Anyone have any clues?
I'm guessing ballast problems, if anyone wants to sell me a spare one so I can swap it over that might help.

Thanks

They aren't dealer fit or anything, I got them on ebay, so no warranty unless a man from Hong Kong wants to come over and fix them up for me :)

I never heard of any other people have problems with them, and I don't want to be re-fitting the standards just yet...

Mine are the ones supplied by diane-shop. And it seems there is actually an 18 month warranty where I can send back any defective part and it will be replaced immediately.. I guess I had better get a package ready for Hong Kong... Once I have checked that it is actually the ballast of course.

Thanks anyway guys, just wondered if anyone had had similar problems and there was an easy fix, and I never thought there would be warranty but there we go.

Months ago I was in a (heated?) discussion regarding the differences between a cheap EBay sub £100 kit and a premium £200+ HID Kit that I have. I was 'told' there's NO difference between the Two!

It was only a matter of time........ ;)

Now that we are into the winter months and the dark nights have drawn in, the cheaper kits have (already!) begun to suffer, as they are being used for longer hours/more frequently. Bulbs blowing/ballasts failing.

Anyway, Travis, if the symptoms do persist, try swapping the suspect Ballast unit to the other side (other light) and see if the symptoms 'move' - then you really will know if that 1 ballast IS faulty.

if anything, it was the colder weather that made it fail so I'm not sure. I think it was just a connection because if I took it out and wobbled it, it worked fine.
Anyway, still got enough warranty so if it goes again I'll send it back.
