Can change it to a stock 106 GTI if you like, makes little difference to me :) If I had a mk2 with a 1.8T conversion, big turbo kit, weight reduction etc etc then it would likely be quicker than a.n.other hatchback.

Nothing against other makes of cars - my first car was a 205 (nothing special, just a 1.4) and it was a great little thing. Saw 10k out of it, sold it at 130k. That was 3 years ago and I still see it around. Fun times!

On the auntie/uncle thing - i'll bow to your superior knowledge ;)

a punto gt is a turbo, but at the end of the day, its still a punto and still fiat. I would never have a punto I'm afraid. Not even a gt. Gt has serious overheating issues etc. My mate had a punto and as someone has already said it's like cardboard. Then inside everything rattles etc. Not my idea of a pleasant car. that is just MY opinion though!!

yesterday
back in the day (2002) i was looking at a Punto as a first car. a mech told me that i would spend more money on repairing it that buing so instead i brought a nippy little red 1.3 i ibiza N reg....that was it for me !! hoooked !

i remember driving it up and down the a38, each time it would only ever do 95mph !!:cartman::cartman::cartman:

good times.

Punto's are a bit Chavy, no history, no F2 world rally title & no hope !

i agree, sister had a punto and got another and i just don't feel safe if i am in the car. nothing against them they do a job but i would never buy one, just don't feel like i would be safe in one
