i'm guessing you mean the 6n2 mk5 1.6 16v with VVT? That was my last car...loved it to bits...but dont regret selling it one bit. The polo definately looks the nuts but because of the gearbox issues & the fact the engine is barely tunable it restricts performance big time. The price tag for the VW sign doesnt pay up for the gti

The cupra in every way is better than the polo imo....you get better reliability & performance (& more tuning ability) for a better price....the only downsides are the lack of extras e.g. xenons/heated leather seats...

Do it you wont look back!

my mrs ha a lupo gti, same entine etc, and i wouldnt even put it in the same class as a cupra, the cupra is a much better car! in a different league mind,

out of the 1600 hot hatches i put the lupo as top of my list!

all of the above is correct, however you might be slightly disappointed about the handling part..

you might have to spend some to get it handling the way you like...but there is plenty of threads on here.

yer well the handling wont bother me as the whole suspension setup would be cahnged for a fit coilover kit with height and damping adjustment any way

The standard Cupra alarm system has the right specs to be cat 1, but even though it's got a higher rating on the thatcham website than the standard Ibiza they don't actually have the Cupra in the official list, just the Cupra R. Means it's pretty hard to convince insurance bods that it is cat 1!

Oh and get a Cupra, it's a no brainer compared to the olop gti ;)
