Power and handling wise a remap and rear ARB would be biggest difference for the money.

Rear ARB does wonders for the cars rear stability when cornering.

Many change the stock plastic dv to a stronger one. Best to use a recirculating one

if i were you i'd do the remap (mines a AmD one) and then a Forge TIP (turbo intake pipe) and if you wanna spend more put a miltek exhaust on it!

I got a catback exhaust for mine, larger diameter wheel, coilovers and rear arb.

I got the exhaust mainly for looks, doubt any power came of it.
coilovers were probably the best mod, make the car feel alot more stable and dramatically improve the look. Personally i felt the rear ARB was a waste of money.

Next i'll look towards getting a remap and possibly a DV.

smoother air flow and more rigid. forge did have a vid on there site showing a TIP collapse at full boost.

not got one myself. not sure what bhp or power band advantage it gives?

thanks 4 the advice,

i asked a mate about the uprated TIP and they say until running 300+bhp not worth changing so think will just go 4 remap forge 007p maybe exhaust and maybe induction kit and will look in rear ARB

sounds a plan. if you can stretch to a sports cat get it on prior to mapping and ask for a custom map rather than generic. may cost a little more but the zorst should give you an extra 10ish bhp.
some of the guys have smoothed/drilled there standard airbox and put a decent panel filter in. they seem to get good results. have a search:)

disagree with that....

look at the two, the forge/samco is larger diameter, smooth inside, no bends and tight curves and fullt silicone, unlike the oem tip, which is part rubber, metal and generally very restrictive on air flow.

i have a samco tip and since i fitted the turbo spools up a lot faster and sounds louder on intake noise.... also i monitered intake temps and there down slightly.. it is slightly but hey...

AmD tested a Golf 1.8T (already remapped) and gained 12bhp out of the TIP. I had mine fitted at the same time as a full miltek exhaust (inc cat) the difference was awesome!...

I had a forge tip fitted to my 180 cupra, got a 10bhp increase with just the pipe on an otherwise standard car.

Stock with a panel filter was 180.2 bhp, 204 lb ft
Fitted a forge turbo intake pipe, 190 bhp, 211 lb ft
Fitted a full piper exhaust inc cat and downpipe 198 bhp, 218 lb ft
Forge FMIC intercooler brought power up to 208 bhp, 217 lb ft

I would advise to sort your suspension first, you will have a car which is more fun to drive.
Uprated front pads and goodridge brake hoses will help with braking and give a nice solid pedal.

Neil.

you need a remap too.... i'm glad you got 10bhp for the FMIC mines not on yet so looking forward to that!... also when you look at the figues; 10bhp from a £130ish TIP is well worth it!

admittedly mine has been butchered by jabba so its no longer a stock tip but its still the original one. same dia. ect. (nasty metal bits in the shed;))
im not saying theres no gains in them but it wouldnt be a high on my list as say the sports cat would be. biggest restriction is the turbo itself. theres only so much air the compressor can shift no matter how unobstructed the feed.

still if it improves response/spooling:shrug:

Yes I have graphs alright, but I don't have a scanner. The 4 graphs I have are very similar, the FMIC brought the power higher up in the rev range.
The first run max power was at around 5.5krpm, the last run max power at just over 6k.

fmic felt similar on mine but thats mapped. maybe the tip is worth it.. did you replace the tip or just the metal pipe?

i take it youll be custom mapping it soon? cant think of anything else to do?

i reckon 245 odd?
