Right i'm currently testing BlueVision Philips, Ultra Blue 5000k & Philips X-Treme 80% bulbs. However i'm very tempted with the Hids4U Ultimate conversion kit. Can people post some pre-Hids and post-Hids shots if possible.

I want to see if they 'look' right and not like those horrible BMW type cheap Xenon mods!

Also whats fitting like on the Leon, i understand a hole has to be drilled to fit through, but does the new 'bulb' sit behind the original lense cover? Is it also possible to then take the Hids with you to the next car and re-fit the originals?

Thanks all!!!!!!!

I don't know myself, I will get someone to fit mine, and hopefully with a bit of luck no drilling will be needed but i was not sure about the lense cap at all and the kit i presume they are made for leon only not sure if its universial for other cars. Am getting xenons next weeks or whenever they arrive. (sorry for the lack of info) browse around on the link theres alot of things about the xenons although i has been translated from french to english.

if you look at this pic: http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/2681/dsc00036yd4.jpg

the user has bent the bulb cover down (at an angle) inside the headlamp. you have to be very careful inserting the HID bulbs they tend to be slightly longer and forcing the bulb in will bend the cover.

if you do go for the HIDs you will need to drill a hole. however if you decided to change car just get 2 new covers or use blanking plugs for the holes. the existing wires are always intact and reverting back to normal h7 bulbs are fine.

on the same topic, will i need to reallign them? because if the bulb cover is bent it will be make a different then right? because you don't want the bulb to be pointing too low or too high (quite painful when it shoots in your eye actually).

Bloody hell! You dont want that snapping off or there is no way back when you change them!! I think i'll use a tea spoon not a desert one!! :D

I'm guessing the new HID bulb will come in a holder that 'should' be ready for use. However if it is slightly off you can always get them aligned at Kwik-Fit, etc. That's if they can do HID levelling as normally HIDs are self levelling

I never did any align service thats good to know. One thing that conserned me on the bent bulb imagine if you hopped over a speedbump, the impact from that mite even snap :p

It will only need to bend twice. Once out the way and once back again. Besides it's not my car so even if it snaps i'm sure HSBC car source a new headlight!

No, the beam from the HIDs are exactly the same and will pass MOT, unless you do in that picture, and bend the cover, then you can get a distorted beam.

Just one note on HIDs. they will pass an MOT however they are in fact illegal since if you car has been fitted with Standard Bulbs, then the law states you must use the same type of bulb (not HIDs), I do not though know of anyone that has been done by the cops for having HIDs on their car, but no doubt there is always a first time.

I did have HIDs fitted to my Leon and tried them on the Altea, but the HIDs are not the "Ultimate" version and flickered quite a lot, especially when you turned on the main beam. I will most likely go for them in the future but not wanting to fork out another 200 notes just yet.l

I am just about to hit the button as well, bending the reflector thingummy bob looks well dodgy to me, has anyone had to do this with the hids4u kit ?

I also noted the antiglare ones, but am a little concerned anti-glare = anti-bright !! Anyone tried the R bulbs ?

I have fitted the Ultimate kit from hids4u with no problems what so ever.
Been running them for about 6 months now. Fantastic light coverage & had no oncoming traffic flash me due to glare. Even gone passed the old bill few times without any problems.

Drilling the covers is the proper way of installing them. there is a grommet provided with the kit that seals the cover again. The HID bulbs in the Ultimate kit are short & have normal H7 holders so they mount up into the headlamp as normal.
