ok long story

last night got in to a race with a mondeo ST220 to my amazement i actually won... the down side was it was an unmarked copper so 3 points and £60 fine :(

but i am thankful for one thing. i obviously turnt my stereo off when he puled me over and when i got back to my car i left it off for a bit. as i pulled out of the layby it was an un even road and rear suspension CREAKED (sp) almost like a stone stuck between the chassie and suspension arm.

any one have an incline to what i should check maybe the cold has gotten to the joints and they need greasing i dunno. some one point me in the right direction tho please its makes a RACKET when going over speed bumps like its about to break.

thanks

Hi

My rear suspension has also been creaking the last couple of mornings

The only thing I can think of is that its been epically cold (nothing more than zero degree really) where I am, so thinking its just the cold making the springs creak

Also noticed the suspension seems rock solid all round, so again leads me to think its the cold, I hav a 56 plate FR, so for me isnt anything worn

Cheers

im an 06 cupra... got friday off work so i might pop to seat and get them to look at it... i reckon something needs creasing cos the suspension is oil so it should be that unless i had a leak and its drained out.

then again i hhad a service a week ago so i am confused.. i know they checked everything as my mates teh mechanic :)

Mine has started to creak in the last couple of days. It does it every year as soon as they salt the roads. I think it gets into the damper bushes and makes them 'dry'.

If it bothers you a good squirt with a hose round the rear suspension might clear it for a day or two or a good drop of rain should do the same thing.:)

silver.. was a cracking copper.. pretty much told me it wasnt the speeding as such and my over taking was great never putting any one at risk always waiting for a clear spot to go... he did me cos it was foggy pretty much he said in the day my driving would be good but at night coming out of fog was a bit reckless that was his only gripe.. i couldnt argue i was doing more than i got clocked for and both at full chat he wasnt catching :D once in my life i was happy to see traffic on the road to slow me down...

big problem now tho company car policy is no one under 25... im 22 blagged it cos i dont have points :( might be losing the car now policy went uk 2k cos of me and accountant reckons its going up another 3k if they will insure me :(

oh yeah you'll always get some saint who has never gone above 20mph even on a motorway calling you a Pr*ck:D , but at the end of the day everyone speeds at some point weather it's on perpose or not, but if you are ragging it, it's the risk you take of getting cought. some of the chavs round here at the moment cant handle any sort of speed yet they all seem to get away with driving like numpty's:drive1: , but hey that life hope the insuence company dosent come down to hard on ya. mine didn't go up at all when i got caught as three points only dosen't effect insurence premiums or so i've been told:shrug:

With regards to the rear bushes, I think you can get some kind of lubricant that's designed for rubber (not THAT kid of lubricant, but hey, who knows a bit of KY might work :D ) maybe you could squirt it into the bushes

I have thought about digging out my can of Waxoyl and spraying this over the bushes. It acts as a lubricant, disperses water and shouldn't damage rubber components (it even conditions them according to the manufacturer's blurb.)

if your saying suspension feels harder then could where spring has been missplaced after large bump causing it to sit funny on rubber mount at top of spring on the rears jack the rear up and lube then lower car to floor making sure springs are sitting right!

Sorry to dif up an old thread, but this seems to be the most relevent with my problem. I have an 08 (57) reg cupra 20vt, i have the rear whiteline ARB and the past few days the rear suspension si really creaking its tits off...... Not sure if its the springs, or if its the shocks.... TBH the shocks wont make the noise unless its the bushes. What would people reccomend i do? jack the rear up take springs out, clean them, bit of LUBE ;) and then slide them back in?

Any help would be appreciated as its doing my head in :(

SEAT did a bulletin on this which involved using special lube on the rear bushes, cant remember the part number but it was about £5 for a tube. Ordinary red rubber grease should do similar job.
