Hi,

Just noticed that my front fog light indicator is not lighting up on the cluster.
Works for the rear fog, any ideas ? It defo did used to work.

Also, anyone have any issues with the drivers door window not going fully up, seems to get about 2 inchs from closing then goes back down again, i thought it was a saftey feature to stop kids getting there head trapped. Seems to close whe car is rolling but when stopped won't go all the way up.

Thanks
JJ

The fog light indicators are only on the switch itself, unless its another one of these things where you get extra warning lights with certain options such as the large MFD.

I only get a light showing up in the instrument cluster when I turn on my rear fog lights. Other than that, i just get the lights on the switch.

I have the larger MFD.

Same as that - only get the light on the dash with the rear fog lights. I've got the smaller MFD.

I could have on for the rear, would need to go out and check.

I know for certain there isn't one for the fronts though as the few times I'd used them I found it a pain looking at the switch to see if the warning light was on.

I am sure I had a light on the dash for both rear and front fogs.

I have a small MFD, I am 99% positive I had 2 lights on the dash for front and rear fogs.

Either that or I am loosing it !!!

'Fraid you're losing it!

The Leon, on all models, irrespective of large or small display only has the rear fog warning in the dash, the tw*t lamp warning is only on the switch.

Whilst we're on the subject could anyone please explain why some morons drive with the tw*t lamps on in clear conditions or for that matter why some other morons think that 2 little diddy 5 watt bulbs (a sum total brightness less than my pushbike front light!!) are acceptable to drive on when it only takes one more click to put on the headlights?

Because they think it looks cool and want to show off the fog lamps they paid £15.00 for...

Some people just seem to think driving with 'parking lamps' on is acceptable. I tell my Mum off about this all the time. She insists on using them when its only slightly dark rather than dipped headlights.

My Leon actually has a design fault with the lights. If I have them on Auto and then want to switch the fog lights on I have to turn from auto to dipped via the side lights, so for a very short time the car switches to sidelights.

people who drive with their fog lamps on are 'a holes' driving with your side lights on is legal in 30 mph areas and not when in areas with a higher limit. Some people ( for example my girl friend) dont realise that both their highlight bulbs are blown and so only have their side lights on.... these people are usually (again like my girl friend) extremely dim!

sad to say but saw a yellow LCR at midday in bright sunlight on the hottest day of the year near Weston with yup sides and fogs on

recognise the plate and i think used to be on a black one not so long ago

I think you'll find that statement is not correct. See Sections 24 & 25 of the RVLR 1989 which can be found online. But anyway, we're going off topic now.
At the Ibiza Prodrive event I was at earlier this month the driver we had demonstrating the Ibiza was an ex-traffic Inspector, we had a long discussion about lighting because of the directional fog lamps on New Ibiza. He said that it is illegal to drive in any area on side lights other than an urban 30MPH limit with street lamps no further apart than 100 yards after lighting up time (that doesn't mean when you spark up a Marlboro!) and its also illegal to use foglamps unless visibility is down to less than 50 yards. What he said concurs with what I was always taught I can't say for sure he is right but I think he'd been in the job a long time.

I would rather see someone using their fogs in bright sunlight, then some tw*t that drives in the fog with not only no fogs, but no lights at all!

Odd - mine never went off... I tested it because I thought it was a poor design too. Unless I left the switch in the side light position for more than a second or so my dipped headlights never went off. Perhaps because I had Xenons?

I have Xenons too, will check to see if it deffo does next time I'm out in the dark. I thought it did last time I used it.

Checked yesterday by the way and I do have a warning lamp for the rear fog lamp.

On a side note I find the auto lights really useful. I often travel through the tunnel on the mororway in the centre off Leeds. The number of people who don't turn their lights on even when the tunnel lighting is out of action...

Phil - maybe your arthritic fingers can't turn the knob quickly enough?! ;)

I too liked the auto-lights and miss them on my A4...
