why not drill holes in the box aswel and with a fat cold air feed im sure you will be able to get the nice sound aswell as the same performance from the air box. in hot weather the hot air soak should be reduced as you will have the fat intake going to it ;) its what ive done on my previous cars and works better than the intuction kit and descreet. get more air and same noise but no loss in power or noticeable anyways... hope it helps

well when i had my astra :S lol.. i drilled some holes in the opposite side to where the engine was. as then it prevented hot air being taken straight in. if you leave the cool air feed in its standard place or connect it to the standard intake on the air box then a constant flow of lush cool air will go to it so in theory itll get the same amount of constant cool air going to it but with the holes in the air box just make a better noise.
BUT.... make sure it is on the opposite side to the engine or underneath the airbox otherwise youll just get hot air going in at a constant. and dont go crazy otherwise its f**ed just do like 3-4 rows of 8 holes with a 7mm wide drill bit max and make sure its BELOW the pannel filter!

let us know how you get on :)
