This is just to let people know in good time, that if they are thinking about Camping on the Saturday in time for the BTCC at Croft on 1 June 2008.

The thread is not to do with Infield Parking etc, as that will be dealt with in another thread.

Camping:

A Pitch on or around a football pitch, situated close to a river in really attractive surroundings.
Toilet & Wash Facilities ( No Showers)
Water
Access to the Working mens Club, which offers cheaper drinks, Pool Table and lively banter with the locals.

Address for you Sat Navers:

6 Hurworth Road
Hurworth Place
Darlington
Co Durham
DL2 2DA

In years gone by, the Weather has been fantastic and really enjoyable.

I need to book the pitches so if you could let me know the definates that would be great.

On a serious note, due to various complaints, from now on, there will be:

1. No noise
2. No Fun
3. Bed time at 9pm

Hope you will all respect these rules.

Convoy:

With regards to Convoy into the circuit, previously we have all met on the main road/working mens car park which is outside the Comet Pub around 7.30am, aiming to leave for the circuit no later than 8am. The comet pub is situated right outside the campsite. If we dont get allocated parking its always good to arrive together. So if you fancy travelling in together just turn up, but we cant leave any later than 8am.

As per usual, once into the circuit, look for SCN Hospitality, come over and say hi.

Thanks

We have to leave that early to stand any chance of getting the gazebo pitched anywhere decent, possibly leaving at 8am is too late if anything like last year is to go on.

Despite sucessfully (I think) passing the Thruxton initiation :-o I'm going to have to pass on Croft...........

I think the 320 odd miles each way will be a bit much :headhurt:

I'm sure you'll all have a great time if last weekend was anything to go by!

With the BTCC its all about getting a good view. somewhere to park your chairs, so you can then go an walk about,

last year, we got there about 8am ish, and it was busy, all the best places were taken, so you realistically have got to get there around that time.

We try and get there early so we can pitch our gazeebos.....

Traffic management at croft is usually quite good.

we'll just head for the gazebo and make our way on random wandering trips around the viewing places through the day id think.

(i saw the gazebo on TV at the weekend at Thruxton)

On the issue of the gazebo, I suggest the gazebo is errected as early as possible and on the top of the embankment overlooking Hawthorn/Chicane. It is as better in some ways than the other embankment (the one overlooking Clervaux and looking up the start/finish straight). I appears much longer, bigger and wider at the top than the other embankment, depending on the conditions you can make out Sunny In/Sunny Out in the distance behind Parc Ferme, and it is as close to the better car-park for the exit. It is futher from the WC but who in their right mind would go there! Talk about the creature from the black latreen!

It is by far the better spot if you take a long seating of some kind. Me and my old dad take collapsable tripod stools that can be put in a bag.
