My new Kiwi Green Ibiza Track car!

Hey all,

I registered yesterday and have now collected my new car from its previous owner. The drive back was totally amazing (took 3 hours, only just got back in) noisey, intense, stiff but incredibly special. I love this car so much already.

Its a 1998 S reg SEAT Ibiza Cupra 2.0i 16v in Kiwi Yellow with extensive track preparation. The list of modifications is quite extensive and its very late so I don't think i'll remember them all, but here goes..

Fully stripped interior.
6 point OMP roll cage
Team Dynamics 16" ultra lightweight alloy wheels in black
Schrek (spelling?) camshafts
Gas-flowed and ported head
4-1 stainless exhaust manifold
Stainless steel racing exhaust
Adjustbale coilover suspension
Full induction kit
Cobra racing seats with full harnesses
Neuspeed front and rear anti-roll bars
Front and rear Upper and Lower strut braces
Drilled/Vented/Grooved disks with mintex track pads
Braided brakes hoses and racing brake fluid
Racing front bumper
Racing rear spoiler
Sparco racing steering wheel
MK1 Golf GTi Golf ball gear knob

I'm intending to do some track days in it and maybe compete next year, too. Only jobs that need doing are giving it a good clean and maybe giving the wheels a re-paint (they're a bit faded).

There are already SEATcurpa.net stickers on the windscreen which indicates to me that someone on here used to own it - does anyone recognise it?

Any comments welcome guys! :D

Hey all,

Yes, the spoiler and splitter are an aquired taste, but at least they were fitted for the right reasons (Aerodynamics, and of course, bling!) and the car just wouldn't be the same without them. If SEAT had ever entered the Ibiza in teh BTCC, this is what it would have looked like. I also think the black wheels really work against teh Kiwi paint job.

Today I spent the first money on the car - all of £8.37, in fact! The car has been stripped of most things, including central locking. This means that the fuel flap no longer locks so i've invested in a locking fuel cap from a lower-spec model. Small change but i'm glad its been done :)

Gave it a good wash and then took some new pictures (below). I can't believe how much better it looks without the dust all over it!! :) The paint is starting to fade a bit in a couple of places but i'm confident that some polishing will sort this out in no time.

The wheels are not as faded as I though so I may just touch-in teh small marks on them with a colour stick. I still need to get another key made and the local car ship says its a main dealer only item, so looks like it'll be costing £70+ :( Does anyone know another way of sorting this?

Also, the red trumpet for the air cleaner clashes a bit against the car colour - should I paint it a different colour?

Any comments would be appreciated guys! :)

Cheers,

o :)

Phew, i'm glad its been taken off then!!!! :funk:[B)]

Engine runs very smoothly so doesn't look like its suffered too many ill effects from its high powered nos action :)

Does anyone have any old pictures of it? Would be great to see what its looked like through the ages..

Hey all,

Logging on to update you on the progress of my new project.

I got the engine cleaned the other day and its looking much better now. The SEAT CUPRA 16V raised lettering on the inlet manifold was very faded and chipped so i've re-painted in red and it looks great! List of all items complete below.

1. Engine clean
2. Re-paint of inlet manifold lettering
3. Rub down, primer and paint of the joins of the roll cage.
4. Removal of window stickers.
5. Rub down, primer and re-paint of boot floor in satin black.
6. Touch-in of minor kerbing marks on wheels in satin black
7. Tidy-up of internal wiring.
8. Greasing of clutch cable (feels much better now!)
9. Satin black detailing of faded engine components (Not too many luckily)

Right, thinsg to do tomorrow are a full wax of the outside and finishing off of the wire tidy-up.

Comments welcome!

Hello all,

Just spent a couple of hours on the car finishing a few things. I took some extra pictures, too.

Firstly, gave the car a full wax session with Turtle Wax Extreme Polish - teh best around, in my opinion..

I also did some extra paint touching-up on the wheels and added a new dust cap for the one that got lost. I've added a few more pictures below.
