Aux input query?

Pure newbie, but I had a search on the site and cant find anything.

Just picked up an 07 TDI FR on friday, and absolutely love it already, but I cant seem to work out how to get the aux working. Plugged in the ipod in to the aux input with the correct cable but how do I select the option on the stereo, as there isnt a direct button for aux. The stereo has button on the top fm,am,cd,audio, and program, but how do i get it to pick up the aux.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks
Anto

I use my Ipod nano via the Aux port. Works well just make sure the volume is set fairly high and as others have said press the CD/AUX button.

Once you have it on Aux you will see at the bottom of the LCD 'aux setting' you can adjust how much you want to boost or reduce the input as well, this may be of some help in getting the correct levels.

If it doesn't work when you press the CD button things may not be wired up correctly/enabled on the stereo. I had to have a replacement stereo fitted and had to take it back because the Aux wasn't available. Quick fix at the dealer.

Is this something that cam be VAGCOM'd? I was thinking about retrofitting an aux input to my stereo but my CD button doesn't cycle to Aux so I assume it's not enabled...

Aux only came in with MY07 cars, mid 2006. The only option you have, is to use the CDC inpt (cd changer), but I dont kknow if you would need to convert the sound at all.

The CDC input consists of Right, Left, and Ground.

In front of a PC....
Pressing the CD/AUX button twice works for me...
I had the iPod set to full volume and the stereo on the car set to 5. Seems to work quite well that way (there were other settings too but I don't have them off hand at the moment)

It's possible to disable the AUX input altogether. So yours could just be turned off.
I've done this on mine, because I never use it.
On the Stereo press PROG, then I think you have to press the far right button for the next screen and it should be there entitled AUX. You can toggle it on/off.

Firstly the button that has CD on it does not have /aux. As for the manual neither the stereo or the main manual dont mention anything about the use of the aux port.

I was considering using one of those virtual CD changers that are advertised on eBay - seems a pretty decent solution - but I have no idea how to access the CDC control on the stereo either. Does the unit just sense when something's connected to the CDC port and unlock the option?

I have a MY05 car.

Do you know if the stereo is MP3 compatible?, should say MP3 on the front in white letters.

The FR on an 07 should have the same stereo as my Cupra and if it has the AUX socket you'd expect there to be an option.

Is the car from a main dealer?

Yeah it is MP3 compatable and it does have the MP3 in white on the front. Yeah was got from a main dealer, waiting on them getting back to me today at some stage.

Hope that you get it sorted.

Just had a look at the MY07 brochure and they have a picture of a stereo in there with MP3 but no AUX button.

It would make sense though if the AUX is fitted then you would have the button on the stereo though.

Just thought another way of trying to access the iPod would be on the steering wheel controls. There is a button that looks like a circle which changes the sound source e.g FM1, FM2, AM, CD, CDC

It is on the left hand side and is the bottom right of the 4 buttons.

Yeah tried that circular button tinking it might work but it only moves between fm and am, didnt have any CD's is so I assume thats why it didnt go to cd. I am finding it very strange to say the least. The car was an ex seat UK car so I am wojust curious now if they have done something too it,
also the aux port itself comes out of its position too easily so there is a possibility that it has been tampered with.

I think that's right that it wouldn't switch to CD without one in.

My gut feel unfortunately is that it isn't the right stereo for the car, or the AUX socket hasn't been added properly.

I know that the AUX only came in on a certain model year.

Do you know what model year your Leon is? (I pressume MY07 or MY08) and does anyone else know when the AUX became standard?

The car is august 07 registered but not entirely sure on manufactured date, yeah the wrong radio is what I have been thinking our else the aux has been retro fitted, but as it was a seat uk car I would have thought it would have been done correctly.

You can check the model year of the car by looking at the vin number at the bottom of the windscreen on the outside.

In the middle of the number it will say 1PZ7 for MY07 or 1PZ6 for MY06 etc
