Problems starting Cupra (remapped)

I got my Leon Cupra remapped about 6 weeks ago and everything has been fine up until about a fortnight ago when the car is having trouble starting.

The car doesnt always start on turn of key, the dash lights flicker on and off as if the battery is flat but after 4 or 5 seconds of holding the key round the car always starts. It is worse in the morning or when car is cold but sometimes during the day it doesnt do it at all!!

I took the car into the main dealers today but they said they cant comunicate with the ECU and they think the remap is causing this problem something to do with the timing is to advanced and it can do something to the control unit!!

To cut a long story short they couldnt get into the ECU and have asked me to take car back to people who mapped it but people who have mapped it said its nothing to do with them but they are going to let me take the car to one of there dealers to see if there is a problem.

Car drives fine.... any ideas????

Who did the remap?

I would have thought that any of the major remapers, Superchips, Awesome, APS etc, would have been happy to have a look at the ECU for you.

All i know is as more people get remaps , more people with mapping issues are appearing?

I know thats stating obvious , but it's true!

back to the people who mapped it , get your original file uploaded (put back to stock) and see if the problem persists

I would class Custom Code as one of the major players.
Their response to the problem is not what i would have expected.

tbh the remap shouldn't lock the dealer out of the ecu?

Custom Code are going to let me take the car to one of there dealers, i have spoke to Mike and he is going to speak to Miles at Storm Developments and see if they can look at the car there, just waiting on a call back

did you have a trial revo map before hand, ive heard trial maps lock ecus like this?

I think you need to be more persistent , in telling them you have a issue that needs to be sorted at the dealers , so put the car back to STD please , and when my issue is resolved i will be back to have my map put back on!

Nope i have not had anything done to the car before

Just over 9.5k with REVO map not had a problem as yet. don't want to tempt fate but don't expect to get any map related problems.

Yes the dealers know it is remapped it was the 1st question he asked because he said the timing on the maps is too advanced and it ends up buggering the control unit but he wasnt sure if thats what my problem was and until he can get into the ECU there is nothing he can do

Dealer can reflash the ECU, thats why REVO say keep your receipt so if a dealer does reflash it you can get it remmaped again, so I'd imagine they either aren't trying hard enough or are trying to shift blame.

Fair enough my mate, i hope you never have a problem, but it is more common the more people have remaps , theres at least two lads on here with issues and two S3's over on Audi sport with issues as we speak!

Not to mention everbody whos had problems and sorted them.

dealer cant re flash ecu yet as there isnt any new software available for them to upload..

few months when some software comes out they should be able to
