The convinience pack is deffinetly worth it.The nav however ?I think it's too expensive. You can buy mobile phone with nav for less or you can buy one the smaller nav gadgets ,here they cost 250-350 euros

the rns510 (sat nav unit) is the mfd3.
your car should be my08 unless it was a stock car for a very long time, and as such the mfd3 should work fine.

I suspect you are confusing two items with similar acronyms here.

The larger display unit within the dashboard of a VAG car is called a Maxidot (Skoda), Highline (VW) or MFD (Seat). This displays temperature, MPG, doors open, telephone and excess speed info. It also echos the sat nav instructions and allows the setting of some convenience functions.

The MFD2 is the older double-DIN sat. nav. unit found across the VAG range. The maps come on CD or DVDs and the unit was relatively low res.

THe MFD3 is the newer hard disk, touch screen based sat nav. solution also known as the RNS-510.

But the satnav is still useless in rural areas with address names and no street names! Having a general area is of little use.
I shall now get a stick on model !!

I would say its more the TeleAtlas maps that are useless, I would like to see what their latest map release are like, but at over £100 I dont think so.

On a plus note the Sat Nav is also a good media system.
