Was on my way to go and watch the england match last night down my local pub, when my traction control light came on without me pressing the button, and i cant turn it off. This has happened before, but when i have turned the car off and then turned it back on, the TC light has turned off and gone back to normal (as in the button works again). but this time, the light has stayed on even after the car has been turned off.

After the football, i went back to my car to drive home and my engine management light has now come on!!

The car still pulls fine, arent any dodgy noises, no smoke or leaks anywhere. Anyone got any ideas at all as to what it could be??

Have already booked it into my local SEAT to get looked at but they cant do anything till tuesday. Is my car safe to drive until then or should i leave it be on my drive??

Annoying thing is i have to drive to Bournemouth next friday to go to my mates uni and no car means i cant go!!! :banned:

if the tc light comes on again, i think it could be an issue with the esp (is it fitted on the mk4?)

either way, it should have logged a code which the dealer will more than likely read when you car goes in.

Once the MAF fails, the ecu can no longer calculate the air intake. It then uses other sensors to guess readings.

Because of this, it is no longer sure that the wheelspeed readings from the TCS are correct, that's why it gives a TCS light.

Every one of my MAF failures have shown a TCS light, shortly followed by the management CEL.

indeed, have had it myself in the past, have heard of esp faults with the sensor ring in the steering wheel which flagged a tcs light though

cheers guys

have booked it into the SEAT garage as i've still got about 2 years left on my warranty so am making the most of it whilst its there

do u reckon its worth me removing and putting my standard dump valve and air filter back in so they dont try and screw me over and make me pay for it???

that happened to me 3 months ago, was a failed abs sensor which turnend off the ESP/TCS and ABS.

They ordered it and fitted it a couple of days later, don't hang around if they do that though as it took them 2 hours as they had to remove the drivers seat and stuff!
